Cyril Abiteboul 'verbiedt' Alonso om Indycar te rijden na terugkeer in F1

Renault-teambaas Cyril Abiteboul zegt dat hij opgelucht zal ademhalen als Fernando Alonso volgend weekend heelhuids uit de Arrow McLaren SP stapt na de Indy 500. Volgend jaar keert Alonso terug in de Formule 1 voor Renault.

Het Franse team heeft Alonso alvast duidelijk gemaakt dat er naast zijn F1-bezigheden geen uitstapjes naar de Amerikaanse racerij gemaakt kunnen worden. Renault verwacht 100% toewijding aan de Formule 1-taak.

Aangezien de Spaanse coureur graag de Indy 500 wil winnen om zodoende de 'Tipple-Crown' te pakken, zal Alonso dus volgend weekend moeten zien te winnen tijdens de Indy 500 waaraan hij nu deelneemt.

De fameuze Amerikaanse race is de laatste klassieker in het lijstje waar de Spanjaard graag een vinkje bij aftekent. Eerder won hij al de F1 Grand Prix van Monaco en de 24 uur van LeMans.

Bij Renault keert de Spanjaard voor twee seizoenen terug in de F1. Renault verbiedt Alonso dus om daarnaast ook nog eens te racen op de ovals aan de andere kant van de oceaan.

Het valt te bezien of Alonso ook daadwerkelijk hoge ogen gaat gooien tijdens de Indy 500 van dit seizoen. Afgelopen week crashte hij al hard van de baan tijdens een training.

100% inzet voor Renault

Abiteboul zei tegen de pers in Barcelona: "Laat ik duidelijk zijn: ik kan nauwelijks ademen tot volgende week, tot Fernando in Indianapolis heelhuids uit zijn auto is gestapt. Ik zeg het maar duidelijk: zodra hij bij ons is, dan is dat ook definitief, voor een bepaalde periode. We willen niet dat er allerlei afleidingen zijn als hij voor ons rijdt."

Alonso werd eerder bij McLaren in de F1 verwend: hij liet zelfs een Grand Prix van Monaco aan zich voorbij gaan om een poging te wagen in Amerika terwijl Jenson Button zijn McLaren door Monaco mocht sturen.

Eerder lukte het hem niet te kwalificeren, laat staan te winnen in de Amerikaanse raceklasse. Dit jaar is het voor hem dus zaak om orde op zaken te stellen en de Indy 500 te winnen.

Wat mag een ‘tipple crown’ voorstellen?

Gisteren gaf ik al een kritische noot over het niveau van artikelen en gerelateerde zaken die zich hier (niet) afspelen, maar die post heeft het oppervlak nooit gehaald. Zegt mij genoeg, zielig gewoon.

Alonso had zelf ook al aangegeven geen Indy te gaan rijden zolang hij bij Renault gaat racen, mooi dat ze het met elkaar eens zijn. Zal uiteraard contractueel vastgelegd zijn.

  Oooohhhh...... Dat bedoelde je..... Tsja.... vind het maar een "klein" foutje met wat je hier wel vaker tegenkomt, wat niet wegneemt dat een auteur van een artikel het wel een tweede keer mag checken of er iemand anders er naar laten kijken alvorens te plaatsen.....
  Ik neem al niet meer de moeite om te reageren op dit soort kleine onbenulligheden in de artikel-teksten.....

  Tja buurman , ik heb de indruk dat men hier leunt op maar een paar mensen en dat men een beetje krap zit in de mensen die publicaties kunnen doen .
  
  Ik zie wel dat een andere platform er momenteel flink garen bij spint en daar word in vergelijking tot een jaar terug nu 3 keer meer gereageerd als voorheen en zie steeds meer mensen van hier ook daar reageren .
  
  Er is naar wat ik heb begrepen al een tijd terug door diverse mensen hulp aangeboden , misschien doet men er goed aan om tussen die aanmeldingen even te kijken of er toch niet misschien een paar geschikte personen tussenzitten .
