Jean Todt verwacht F1-kalender met 22 races in 2021

De F1-kalender van 2020 is officieel nog niet rond, al kunnen bijna alle locaties ingevuld worden. Chase Carey lijkt zijn woord te kunnen houden dat het aangepaste kampioenschap van dit jaar tussen de 15-18 Grands Prix zal hebben, aangezien het aantal vermoedelijk rond de 17 uit zal komen.

FIA-president Jean Todt was afgelopen weekend in Spa-Francorchamps aanwezig bij het WEC en vertelde daar aan de media: "In 2021 denk ik dat het WEC een kalender heeft met 6 races, inclusief de 24 uur van Le Mans."

Daarnaast ging hij in op de situatie van de Formule 1. Aanvankelijk zou 2020 het langste seizoen ooit worden met 22 races. Vooraf was veel ophef en reuring onder diverse coureurs over de lengte van de kalender en vooral de vele weekenden dat ze van huis zijn.

Vanwege de coronacrisis zal dit jaar de 22 races niet gehaald gaan worden, maar voor 2021 is dat wel het doel, zo stelt de Fransman: "Ik denk dat er niet veel zal veranderen in de F1 of er nu 20 of 22 races zullen plaatsvinden. Het doel van het leven is altijd om de juiste balans te vinden en ik denk dat we met de Formule 1 een goede balans hebben gevonden."

"De periode waarin we ons nu bevinden maakt het uiteraard veel moeilijker. Het vergt creativiteit en ik ben erg trots dat de promotors van races, de F1-teams en lokale organisaties erin geslaagd zijn om de Formule 1 te ontvangen. Ik heb goede hoop op een F1-kalender met 22 races in 2021."

Reken maar op een 2021 zonder of met heel weinig publiek erbij, dus voor Zandvoort denk ik dat die geen keuze hebben. Nog 1 jaar laten lopen zou zomaar kunnen dat het Exit F1 zou worden voor Zandvoort.

Hmmm oke! Met of zonder Zandevoort?

Ben wel benieuwd wanneer hij nu eens aftreed. Voor Toto komt het te vroeg en kan het niet. Misschien iets voor Luca? Maar ja weer een Ferarriman. Of die Kolles dat zal Toto leuk vinden.

Het moet in ieder geval iemand zijn die de F1 een warm hart toedraagt en die zorgt voor een simpeler motorformule zodat ook meer teams instappen.

  Bij mijn weten hebben ze gewoon een contract met Zandvoort..... De reden dat het dit jaar niet op Zandvoort door is gegaan moge duidelijk zijn.... Vanaf volgend jaar gewoon op de kalender...

  Volgens mij willen ze niet voor 1 race naar een andere regio toe om de risico's zo klein mogelijk te houden en het qua logistiek te veel moeite kost.
  
  Omdat veel Aziatische circuits zich hebben teruggetrokken is ook Vietnam uiteindelijk van de kalender afgehaald (want die bleef als enige over in die regio).

  Zandvoort blijft ook dan afhankelijk of ze (ook voor een F1 raceweekend zonder publiek) een evenementenvergunning krijgen tzt. Zou zomaar kunnen dat de Veiligheidsregio Kennemerland volgend jaar - als dat virus de spuitgaten uitloopt - enige vorm van (sport)evenementen (of georganiseerde bijeenkomsten) verbiedt.

  Neuh. Zandvoort is gerenoveerd en herstelt met geld van een groep rijke mensen die al teveel geld hadden en het wel leuk vonden om een klein deel daarvan stuk te slaan op Zandvoort.
  Zolang er niet gereden wordt is er natuurlijk wel wat verlies maar dat is geen enkel probleem.
  Uiteraard zal Zandvoort wel graag willen dat er F1 gereden gaat worden en men zal zeker kijken naar evt oplossingen voor 2021.
  Maar exit F1?
  Neuh. Het circuit is al betaald. Daar zit geen schuld op. Op papier natuurlijk wel maar in werkelijkheid is het gewoon deel van het grote onroerend vermogen van de prins en zijn trawanten. Daar komt geen deurwaarder naar het circuit. Zandvoort is safe. De GP gaat door ook als dat pas 2022 moet worden.

  Ik bedoel meer exit F1 als Zandvoort het niet wil organiseren, het circuit op zich die blijft uiteraard wel bestaan, ik ben bang dat ze zeggen willen jullie weer niet dan nemen we een ander Circuit en Adios.

  @rimmer (leuke naam trouwens haha). Of is de renovatie betaald door de ticketverkoop? Ik denk ook dat als ze de keutel in 2021 weer intrekken, het hele F1 niet meer in Zandvoort komt.

Ze kunnen dit seizoen makkelijk 25 races plannen als ze 5 keer Silverstone , 3 keer Spa of 4 keer Spanje hadden ingepland. In tijden van crisis kan het dus wel met wat improvisatie.
