Toestand Flavio Briatore na ziekenhuisopname "goed en stabiel"

De toestand van Flavio Briatore is "goed en stabiel" nadat hij met een corona-besmetting in het ziekenhuis in Milaan is opgenomen. Dat maakte zijn staf bekend in een verklaring, zo meldt Reuters.

Gisteren werd bekend dat Briatore in een ziekenhuis in Milaan is opgenomen met het coronavirus. Toen werd door het gerespecteerde Italiaanse tijdschrift L’Espresso nog gemeld dat zijn toestand "ernstig" zou zijn.

'Stabiel': wat zegt dat?

NPO Radio 1 laat vanochtend huisarts Pieter Barnhoorn aan het woord. Zelfs hij zegt vaak niet te weten wat collega's bedoelen met de term 'stabiel'. "Het lijkt vooral een loze frase te zijn die geen achteruitgang of vooruitgang in de situatie aangeeft", vertelt de arts tegen presentator Jurgen van den Berg.

Duidelijk is in ieder geval dat Briatore niet op de intensive care ligt. Briatore werd zondag naar het ziekenhuis gebracht nadat hij dacht een verkoudheid te hebben opgelopen. Dat bleek anders, dinsdag werd hij dus opgenomen. Onlangs zei de flamboyante Italiaan nog dat hij dacht het virus in december al gehad te hebben.

Billionaire club

De 70-jarige flamboyante Italiaan klaagde vorige week nog over de maatregelen van de Italiaanse overheid in poging het virus in te dammen. Vooral nachtclubs zoals Briatore's Billionaire club in Sardinië zouden een besmettingshaard zijn waar het virus gemakkelijk om zich heen grijpt. Briatores club moest sluiten op last van de gemeente nadat zestig personeelsleden inderdaad besmet bleken met het virus.

Economie

Briatore hekelde deze 'economische slachting' door de autoriteiten opgelegd. De Italiaan maakte zich tot vorige week vooral zorgen om de economie. Zo zei hij in een video op Instagram: „Mijn hart breekt nu ik zie dat een economie wordt geslacht door mensen die nooit iets hebben gedaan in hun leven."

Beroemd én berucht

Briatore werd befaamd en berucht in de jaren '90 en begin deze eeuw als teambaas van onder anderen Michael Schumacher en Fernando Alonso. Die twee sleepten onder de leiding van Briatore het wereldkampioenschap F1 meerdere malen binnen. Jos Verstappen kent Briatore ook goed: in 1994 was de Italiaan zijn teambaas bij Benetton.

Briatore zorgde als teambaas in de Formule 1 altijd voor reuring, maar werd verbannen uit de sport na 'crash-gate'. Toen het bots-bedrog aan het licht kwam, bleek dat Nelson Piquet Jr. met opzet uit de Grand Prix van Singapore in 2008 was gecrasht. Zo kon hij teamgenoot Fernando Alonso de overwinning schenken. Piquet Jr. verdween stilletjes via een achterdeur uit de F1. Flavio Briatore werd door de FIA verbannen uit de sport.

Internationale jetset

De afgelopen dagen ontmoette Briatore nog bekende figuren uit de internationale jetset. Op 15 augustus zou hij nog hebben gevoetbald met beroemdheden. Een van zijn medespelers was Sinisa Milhajlovic, hij is manager van een Serie A-voetbalteam. Hij bekende afgelopen weekend het virus te hebben opgelopen.

Op Briatore's Instagram is ook te zien hoe hij onlangs nog de voormalige premier van Italië Berlusconi heeft ontmoet. De voormalig politicus bleek geen COVID-19 besmetting te hebben, zo wees een test uit.

Sardinië nu getroffen tijdens vakantie

Sardinië behoorde voor de zomer tot de minst getroffen regio's van Italië, nu lijkt er een scherpe toename in besmettingen. Veel toeristen vanuit het hele land zouden er deze maand hun vakantie vieren, schrijven Italiaanse media.

  tja, dat werkt op andere sites niet anders waar ik dit bericht voorbij heb zien komen, er wordt dan elke keer weer gerefereerd aan zijn bekendste wapenfeiten, titels met Alonso en Schumacher en natuurlijk crashgate..
  Mis m wel zo'n type als teambaas met al die gladjakkers a la Wolff en Horner,
  zo 'boef' ertussen :)
