Sebastian Vettel zoekt stoeltje nog niet buiten F1: "Focus ligt op F1"

Interessante uitspraken van Sebastian Vettel waarover het gerenommeerde Autosport.com hem citeert. De Duitser, die tot vier keer toe het wereldkampioenschap wist te winnen bij Red Bull Racing, is in eerste instantie zoekende naar een stoeltje in de Formule 1, maar wil evenetueel later pas nadenken over andere raceklassen.

Veel is nog niet zeker, maar vast staat wel dat hij na dit seizoen vervangen zal worden door Calos Sainz jr. Of die laatste overigens blij moet zijn is nog maar de vraag, gezien de Italiaanse renstal voorlopig nog last blijft houden van de grotendeels bevroren motoren tot 2021.

Ferrari lijkt hard op weg om naar het onderste deel van het rijtje te zakken in het constructeurskampioenschap dit jaar. Renault heeft slechts twee punten achterstand op Ferrari. Het team heeft na sterke resultaten in België ook grote kans om goed te scoren in Monza.

Eerder vertelde Vettel dat hij ook gesprekken voerde met Renault, maar dat was voordat het team Fernando Alonso vast legde voor een zitje voor volgend seizoen. Ook is bekend dat Vettel "losse gesprekken" voert met het huidige Racing Point, vanaf volgend seizoen Aston Martin F1.

Omdat er geen andere stoelen beschikbaar lijken voor Vettel bij teams die in staat zijn om races te winnen, heeft hij na vijf jaar bij Ferrari nu de overstap om genoegen te nemen met een team dat in het middenveld strijd overwogen.

Wanneer hem wordt voorgelegd of hij bereid is te tekenen bij een team dat al meerdere jaren droog staat waar het gaat om het winnen van een race, zegt Vettel dat hij vooral in de Formule 1 zou willen blijven "om iets te bereiken".

"Ik heb niet veel interesse om mij te melden bij een team dat niet in staat kan zijn om te vechten voor iets dat de moeite waard is om voor te vechten, of een team dat in staat is om daar in de toekomst toe in staat te zijn", zei Vettel.

"Ik denk dat de grote onbekende ook de regels voor 22 zijn. Het is duidelijk dat veel teams hopen dat er veel dingen zullen veranderen. Ik denk dat we zullen moeten afwachten. Ik laat het jullie weten zodra ik nieuws heb."

Vettel zei: "Voorlopig ben ik gefocust op de Formule 1, en zoals ik al eerder heb gezegd, heb ik in dit opzicht geen alternatieven gecontroleerd."

  prima als Seb naast Max gaat rijden, maar ik verwacht er niet teveel van..
  
  Wat sauber al aangeeft, Vettel staat er bekend om dat hij erg gevoelig is voor de rijeigenschappen, dat hij slecht overweg kan met een nerveuze wagen..
  Wordt dan weer het bekende probleem, veel spins en knullige fouten.
  Oftewel, andere kleur, zelfde gezeur!
