Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri: "Binotto blijft"

Hoogste baas van Ferrari, Louis Camilleri, zegt in de New York Times dat de baan van Mattia Binotto als teambaas van Ferrari veilig is. 

"Ik heb het totale vertrouwen in Mattia Binotto en zijn team", zegt Camilleri. "Het resultaat bewijst nu niet wat ik zeg, maar deze dingen vergen tijd. Spijtig genoeg was er in het verleden teveel druk en een geschiedenis van het laten lopen van mensen. Er was een soort draaideur-mentaliteit en daar wil ik een einde aan maken."

Het lijkt erop dat Ferrari bezig is met hun slechtste seizoen in tijden. Tijdens de vorige GP in België kreeg het team geen van de auto's in de top-tien, tijdens de race was de Scuderia te vinden in de achterhoede, scoorde het geen punten en kwamen beide auto's niet voorbij de Alfa Romeo van Kimi Raikkonen. Alfa Romeo is klanten-team en rijdt met Ferrari-krachtbronnen.

    Iets zegt mij dat de top van Ferrari volledig onderdeel was van de situatie vorig jaar. En dus kunnen ze Binotto nu niet laten vallen. Al was het alleen maar om te voorkomen dat Binotto dan gaat praten.

      Dat gezegd hebbende, ik krab ook even op mijn achterhoofd over de toename in performance bij Renault. Zou het dan waar zijn dat Wolff kennis gedeeld heeft met Renault op voorwaarde dat Renault hun protest over de roze Mercedes zouden intrekken? Het riekt dat het stinkt, wederom zo’n sprong in performance...

      Nee, geloof ik niks van. En zo plotseling is het ook niet. Het begint nu echter op te vallen omdat ze sneller bij RB komen dan RB bij mercedes.

      Ook al zou er bepaalde kennis zijn gedeeld dan duurt het maanden voordat je dat hebt kunnen verwerken in je auto. Dat moet binnen je ontwerp worden verwerkt, getest, geproduceerd, nog een keer getest, etc. etc.

    Ze kiezen dus een andere route dan in het verleden. Geen draaideurmentaliteit meer maar Binotto gewoon de boel laten oplossen.

      Abiteboul blijft bij Renault en Renault F1 wordt Alpine F1, met een andere teambaas.
      Mooie indirecte manier om iemand te wieberen.
      Overigens gaaf dat de naam Alpine terug is. Het sportieve merk van Renault waar je vroeger wel een karretje van in de garage wilde hebben.
