Max Verstappen zegt dat hij het leuk zou vinden om de Formule 1 te domineren. Te midden van de dominantie van Lewis Hamilton in 2020 zei de Mercedes-coureur en zesvoudig wereldkampioen onlangs dat hij de voorkeur geeft aan 'wiel aan wiel racen' omdat je hem hier 's ochtends vroeg voor kan wakker maken.

Hamilton: "Dit is niet het kampioenschap waar ik op had gehoopt. Ik rij nog steeds de ronden die nodig zijn, maar het is geen close battle. Ik hoop echt dat het in de toekomst dichterbij komt."

Geen schaamte

Red Bull-coureur Verstappen, die 77 punten achter Hamilton staat in het kampioenschap op de Brit, zegt echter dat hij het niet erg zou vinden om in de schoenen van de Brit te staan. Verstappen: "Wat kan ik zeggen. Ik zou zeker geen schaamte hebben om in zijn schoenen te staan en te domineren."

"Ik zou liever iedereen voor zijn. Het zou geweldig zijn om in zo'n dominante auto te rijden. Ik zou heel graag elke race winnen met 50 seconden voorsprong", aldus Verstappen.

De kersverse 23-jarige zei dat hij hoopt dat hij dichterbij kan komen als de nieuwe regels voor 2022 geïntroduceerd worden, en dat inhalen ook makkelijker is omdat het momenteel niet mogelijk is om lekker te racen.

"Het beperken van de budgetten helpt niet veel. Het belangrijkste is om de juiste mensen te hebben. Sommige kleine teams denken misschien 'nu hebben we een kans'. Maar als je niet de juiste mensen hebt, sta je toch achter in het veld."

Ikzelf vraag me ook af wat er nog overblijft van de dominantie als Hamilton niet meer in de sterkste en snelste auto kan rijden, zou hij dan nog zo dominant zijn ?
Ik denk persoonlijk dat het dan stukken minder zal gaan, als Ham nu met die dominante auto in het middenveld terecht komt valt het mij op dat hij niet zomaar even naar de leiding rijd, iets wat 2 jaar geleden wel zo was.

  Misschien dat het na 5 jaren dominantie een beetje saai wordt...
  Persoonlijk denk is dat Hamilton en ook Wolff mooie praatje verkopen, en het prima naar hun zin hebben met de dominantie.
  Anders zou Hamilton Verstappen wel naast zich uitnodigen in zijn team.

Maar ook het krijgen van de juiste mensen is gerelateerd aan het budget wat een team heeft. Zodra een team vanwege het budget een voordeel heeft dan trekt het ook de beste mensen aan. Dit principe zie je bijvoorbeeld heel duidelijk bij coureurs. Coureurs rijden niet alleen bij de topteams omdat ze daar een hoger salaris krijgen. Ik denk zelfs dat meestal de ambititie om te winnen belangrijker is.

Max droomt ervan. hij heeft geen idee wat long-lasting dominatie betekent. lewis zit meer in de "been there done that" fase, dus verlangt naar een stevig robbertje karten met de collegas. En daar vind ik de coureur Lewis ook op zijn best. Beetje zoals eind vorig seizoen.

Max is heel eerlijk hoe hij over de huidige situatie denkt daarmee zegt hij ook tussen de regels dat wks zijn wat ze zijn en dat ze tellen al win je op een driewieler ze tellen.
