Max Verstappen: "Hoop met Mercedes te vechten om de winst"

Over anderhalf uur begint de Eifel Grand Prix met Valtteri Bottas op pole position en Lewis Hamilton naast zich op de eerste startrij. Max Verstappen start vanaf de derde plek en heeft kansen op de overwinning, zo vertelde hij in de build-up van F1TV.

Red Bull Racing heeft het dit weekend goed voor elkaar en dat komt mede door de nieuwe updates op de wagen. Daarnaast heeft Honda een nieuwe motorinstelling gevonden die goed werkt, zo vertelde Toyoharu Tanabe van het Japanse automerk.

In gesprek met F1TV werd Verstappen gevraagd naar de race. Hij wil niet te ver vooruit kijken, zoals we van hem gewend zijn, maar vertelde: "Een goede start is altijd belangrijk en dan hoop ik te kunnen vechten met Mercedes voor de winst. We zullen wel zien hoe het loopt met de slijtage van de banden en het weer, er zijn veel mogelijkheden doordat het allemaal onbekend is, dus we zien wel hoe het loopt."
