Max Verstappen: "Ik ben niet gefrustreerd"

Max Verstappen houdt vol dat hij niet gefrustreerd raakt, ook al blijven de overwinningen momenteel buiten zijn bereik. Red Bull lijkt steeds dichter bij Mercedes te komen, waarbij de Nederlandse coureur mee kon doen om de pole position tijdens de Eifel Grand Prix op de Nurburgring, afgelopen weekend.

Wat hem wel lukte was de snelste ronde te rijden tijdens de race, waarmee hij een extra punt scoorde voor het kampioenschap. In gesprek met Ziggo zei Verstappen: "Ik zag Lewis zijn snelste ronde op de grote schermen, dus ik wist wat de referentie was. De pitmuur vroeg er niet om, maar ik vond dat ik het moest proberen, ook al had ik niet verwacht dat het zou lukken. Het is een extra voldoening dat het is gelukt."

In tegenstelling tot wat sommige berichten melden houdt hij vol dat het niet hebben van een auto die consequent de Mercedes evenaart en verslaat hem niet in de steek laat.

"Ik zou elk weekend gefrustreerd kunnen raken omdat ik geluk aan mijn zijde nodig heb om te winnen, maar ik heb de situatie geaccepteerd en probeer gewoon het maximale er uit te halen. Als ik het beste van mezelf kan geven, ben ik gelukkig en kan ik ervan genieten", voegde Max eraan toe.

Updates werken goed

Wat ook zijn humeur verbetert is dat de nieuwste updates van Red Bull de auto dichter bij de snelle Mercedes brachten. Verstappen: "De updates werkten goed en we komen dichter bij Mercedes, maar ze boeken ook vooruitgang, dus we moeten gewoon blijven werken."

  Hij is niet gefrustreerd, maar baalt er natuurlijk wel van. Dat kan je hem ook niet kwalijk nemen. Hij is echter wel in staat om dat uit zijn hoofd te zetten en er weer vol voor te gaan zodra hij in de auto zit.

Maar je vader wel. Geintje.

Max was begin dit seizoen vooral gefrustreerd. Niet echt naar buiten uit, maar leuk was anders. Nu is het bezinking en acceptatie.
Het is een teamsport. Dat is F1 altijd geweest en Max is daarin een belangrijke schakel.

Natuurlijk zal hij frustraties voelen maar zal zijn relativerings-vermogen daar de overhand in nemen.

Max moet gas geven voor wat hij waard is, en hij doet dat. Ik hoop dat Red Bull de eindeloze vicieuze cirkel een keer doorbreekt. Daarmee bedoel ik dat Mercedes halverwege het seizoen de doorontwikkeling al min of meer stillegt en alle effort op volgend jaar zet.
P1 zit er niet meer in, voor P2 doet Max het niet. Accepteer het verlies dit jaar en doorbreek het patroon dan eens, zet alle effort op wat er voor komend jaar verandert en zorg dat in 2021 een auto aan de start staat die direct kan wedijveren met Mercedes.
Ik vrees echter dat dit niet gaat gebeuren. Mercedes zal blijven leiden met de manier waarop ze keer op keer voorbereiden op het volgende jaar.

ik denk dat redbull allleen maar dichter bij mercedes komt omdat mercedes al bezig is met de auto van 2021 2022
