Ferrari gebruikt 2021 tokens voor nieuwe achteras

Ferrari heeft toegegeven dat de auto van dit seizoen geen winnende auto is. Het team heeft sinds de geheime afspraak met de FIA geen goede prestaties kunnen neerzetten. Simone Resta. de baas van het ontwerpteam van het Ferrari-chassis, geeft een inkijkje in de ontwikkeling voor de 2021-bolide.

Simone Resta is momenteel bezig aan de 2021-auto van het team uit Maranello. In de zomer van 2019 werd Resta teruggehaald door Mattia Binotto. Hij was toen aan het werk voor Sauber in Hinwill. Hij kreeg van Binotto een verantwoordelijke rol om te bouwen aan de 2021-auto.

Momenteel is hij aan het analyseren waarom de SF1000 zoveel vermogen te kort komt ten opzichte van de andere teams. Hij heeft echter wel een probleem. Door de coronacrisis wordt er volgend jaar met dezelfde auto geracet, al mogen er een aantal dingen worden veranderd. Zo krijgt elk team twee tokens om hun auto te verbeteren.

Resta legde tegenover Autospint uit waar en hoe de Scuderia-bolide moet worden aangepast. "Aerodynamica is gratis, maar met beperkingen voor het aantal uren dat in de windtunnel mag worden doorgebracht voor aerodynamische ontwikkeling. En dan is er een beperking voor de ontwikkeling van de componenten die betrekking hebben tot het chassis. Zoals de carrosserie, de ophanging, remmen en alles wat met de auto te maken heeft, behalve de carrosserie aan de buitenkant. Het is toegestaan om wat wij noemen twee 'tokens' uit te geven voor de aanpassingen aan het chassis. Dat is om in te grijpen op twee kritieke gebieden van de auto om deze te verbeteren."

Nieuwe achteras voor Ferrari

Met de twee tokens kan hij verschillende dingen laten aanpassen, Ferrari weet al welke. "Met twee tokens kon ik besluiten om het nieuwe chassis op te bouwen, omdat ik misschien de radiatoren anders wil plaatsen, de wielbasis wil veranderen en de gewichten wil verplaatsen. Ik kan ook een ontwikkelingsfiche aan de remmen besteden om ze nieuw te maken en nog token voor de neus, maar op dat moment moet ik een nieuwe crashtest doen."

"Dit is het werk dat ik nu samen met mijn collega's doe. We beslissen waar we ingrijpen om het huidige project te verbeteren. We zijn van plan de achterkant van de auto opnieuw te ontwerpen. We zullen dat gebied opnieuw ontwerpen omdat we denken dat er op dat gebied meer veelbelovende punten zijn om de prestatiemarge te vergroten."

Zijn ze niet een beetje laat met de achterkant aan te passen?? Vettel vraagt al jaren voor een stabiele achterkant en krijgt die niet. Nu gaan ze de achterkant aanpakken omdat er winst te halen is....
Het blijft toch een raar team dat Ferrari, altijd hun eigen vreemde weg bewandelen....

Zijn ze niet een beetje laat met de achterkant aan te passen?? Vettel vraagt al jaren voor een stabiele achterkant en krijgt die niet. Nu gaan ze de achterkant aanpakken omdat er winst te halen is....

Ik heb hier nog wel ergens een Alfetta achteras liggen evt met versnelingsbak met rotte synchros. Ligt als een huis met die de Dion as. Verfje erover, klaar is Kees, of Charles zo je wilt.
Terug naar de roots met ricambi originali Alfa Romeo. Zoals Enzo deed.

Dat token-systeem is toch wel heel kut. Tel daar bij op de beperkte tijd die men mag doorbrengen in de windtunnel. Dit draagt toch in geen geval bij aan een competitief deelnemersveld.
