Shwartzman hoopt dat F1-debuut in Abu Dhabi door kan gaan

Robert Shwartzman zegt dat hij hoopt dat zijn F1-debuut op vrijdag in Abu Dhabi doorgaat zoals gepland. Twee andere Ferrari-juniorcoureurs, Mick Schumacher en Callum Ilott, konden vanwege de weersomstandigheden op de Nurburgring niet deelnemen aan de vrije training voor respectievelijk Alfa Romeo en Haas.

Ferrari-teambaas Mattia Binotto zei dat beide coureurs opnieuw worden ingepland, waarschijnlijk voor het Grand Prix-weekend in Abu Dhabi. Maar Abu Dhabi is ook het circuit van het geplande debuut van de 21-jarige Shwartzman op vrijdag, in een door Ferrari aangedreven Alfa Romeo of Haas.

De Rus hoopt dat dit door kan gaan: "Ik hoop dat er niets verandert. Ik hoop dat ik niet vervangen word, maar de beslissing is natuurlijk aan Ferrari. Er was mij beloofd dat ik de training en de tests voor jonge coureurs zou doorlopen, en niemand heeft me gebeld, ik heb niets anders gehoord."

"Misschien zullen Mick en Callum nog wel in een andere Grand Prix worden ingezet. Ik denk dat Ferrari een manier zullen vinden."
