Carlos Sainz over terugkeer Alonso bij Renault: "Hij heeft een goede keuze gemaakt"

Fernando Alonso maakte dit seizoen de terugkeer naar Renault bekend, het team waarmee hij twee wereldtitels wist te behalen. De Spanjaard begon zijn Formule 1-carrière bij Minardi, een jaar later zat hij al in een Renault. Na twee wereldtitels besloot hij naar McLaren te gaan, wat niet echt een succes was. Hij keerde weer terug bij de Franse renstal en besloot na het 2009-seizoen over te stappen naar het Italiaanse Ferrari. Hij maakte de keuze om een stapje terug te doen en weer naar McLaren te verhuizen, dat had helaas niet het gewenste resultaat.

Het team kon niet meedoen met de middenmoot. De Woking-formatie werkte met een nieuwe partner Honda en die motor was niet goed en was onbetrouwbaar. Tegenwoordig heeft McLaren een goede lijn vast en weet het zich bij de top te voegen. Carlos Sainz is daar een van de coureurs en denkt dat Alonso een goede stap heeft gemaakt naar Renault “Renault, of Alpine, doet het zeer goed momenteel,” vertelde Sainz tegenover MotorsportWeek.com. “Na een erg moeilijk jaar in 2019 gaan ze momenteel zeker en vast de goede richting uit. Ze lijken de juiste weg te hebben gevonden met betrekking tot het ontwikkelen van hun wagen en ze maken het McLaren zeer moeilijk.”

Goede indruk Renault

Renault wist een podium te behalen in het afgelopen raceweekend in Duitsland op de Nurburgring. Het team oogt de laatste races erg sterk en zo denkt Sainz er ook over. “Na enkele moeilijke jaren voor Renault denk ik dat Fernando op een zeer goed moment naar Renault gaat. Het is goed nieuws ook voor de sport, voor de Formule 1. Het is goed nieuws voor iedereen dat hij terug is.”

De Spanjaarden zullen het volgend seizoen tegen elkaar opnemen. Carlos Sainz zal zich dan bevinden in een Ferrari-stoeltje en Fernando Alonso in die van Alpine.

  die dummies bleken door Doornbos geleverde sexdolls, de crashproeven hebben ogenschijnlijk goed doorstaan, maar later konden ze alsnog in de kliko toen ze begonnen te klagen over hoofdpijn, want daarvoor koop je zo'n ding nou net niet.........

  De keuze voor Ferrari was niet slecht. De timing wel. Charles laat echt geen spaan heel van Carlos en het is sneu dat het Carlos moet overkomen maar het werd eerlijk gezegd ook wel tijd dat die jongen inzicht krijgt in zijn werkelijke tekortkomingen.
  Dat verhaal van “ik was net zo goed als Max” kan dankzij Charles zometeen definitief de prullenbak in.

Ik kijk al uit naar leuke radio-gesprekken van Alonso die ik laatste tijd gemist heb.
Interne strijd - check, politieke spelletjes - check, show en leuke acties tijdens of buiten het racen - check, een gefaalde teamgenoot mer verwoeste toekomst - misschien ook check.
Hoe dan ook, in deze dominante tijden van Mercedes alle entertainment is meer dan welkom.
