Arthur Leclerc: "Mijn droom is steeds dichterbij gekomen"

Charles Leclerc rijdt momenteel bij Ferrari, maar zijn broer rijdt in de Europese Formule 3. Als kleine racer wil je altijd in de Formule 1 komen, maar dat is tot nu toe alleen Charles gelukt. Arthur moet het doen met de raceklasse waar hij voor uit mag komen en droomt nog niet direct van een Formule 1-stoeltje.

De 20-jarige Arthur Leclerc is momenteel koploper in het Formula Regional European F3-kampioenschap. De drie jaar jongere broer van Charles vertelt tegenover Corriere Della Sera wat hij momenteel van zichzelf vindt. "Ik heb altijd al coureur willen worden", zei Leclerc tegen Corriere della Sera. "Ik heb mijn vader ooit beloofd dat ik weer zou gaan racen, en mijn oom hielp me sponsors te vinden", zei Arthur, wiens vader in 2017 stierf.

Hij is weer op de goede weg en een kans in de Formule 1 komt natuurlijk steeds dichterbij, maar hij wil zich eerst focussen op het kampioenschap. "Nu is mijn droom om naar de Formule 1 te gaan dichterbij gekomen, maar eerst denk ik er alleen aan om dit kampioenschap te winnen, zodat ik niet afgeleid word."

Arthur krijgt maar weinig advies van Charles, dit komt door een aantal factoren. “Het is moeilijk voor Charles om dat te doen omdat hij nog nooit in deze categorie heeft gereden en hij niet veel vrije tijd heeft. Mijn broer helpt me, maar ik moet het voor mezelf doen."

Of we misschien twee broers op de Formule 1-grid zien, weet hij niet: "Laten we niet overhaasten."

  misschien was Arthur (Thuurke zoals ze hem noemen) thuis wel een etter en helpt Charles hem daarom niet, je weet het niet.....
