Teambaas Williams schimmig over rijdersduo 2021: "Er zijn geen veranderingen"

Op dit moment zijn er veel speculaties over de nog beschikbare zitjes voor 2021. Door de onrustige rijdersmarkt zijn de stoeltjes van George Russell en Nicholas Latifi bij Williams sinds kort ook het onderwerp van gesprek. Teambaas Simon Roberts voedt nog eens extra de geruchten door geen duidelijkheid te geven over zijn rijdersduo voor volgend jaar.

Op de persconferentie zei de interim teammanager van het legendarische team dat "er nog niks is veranderd in de tussentijd". In principe blijven Russell en Latifi, maar in de geruchtenmolen is Sergio Perez al meerdere keren gelinkt aan de Engelse renstal. De Mexicaan is interessant door zijn ervaring en het geld wat de Racing Point-coureur kan meebrengen.

Omdat de Canadees Latifi ook sponsors meebrengt, kan de talentvolle Russell kind van de rekening worden. Ondanks dat de Engelsman Mercedes-junior is en het Duitse concern motoren levert aan het Williams-team.

Simon Roberts hield de hele tijd zijn lippen stijf op elkaar. "Er zijn veel geruchten over 2021." Op de vraag of het rijderskoppel van dit seizoen mag blijven, kwam geen antwoord.
