Maximum salaris F1-coureurs nog niet vastgesteld

Lewis Hamilton zegt dat het nieuws dat zijn salaris vanaf 2023 gemaximaliseerd kan worden hem heeft verrast. Afgelopen maandag werd tijdens de vergadering in Portimao, waarbij alle teams vertegenwoordigd waren, vastgesteld dat ieder team maximaal 30 miljoen per coureur per jaar aan salaris mag uitgeven.

Ferrari-teambaas Mattia Binotto zegt echter dat het hele plan nog niet in kannen en kruiken is: "Er is nog niets besloten, maar we zijn blij om het probleem aan te pakken en te begrijpen welk systeem kan gaan werken. Maar er zijn nog geen oplossingen."

Beste coureurs ter wereld

De Italiaan gaf toe dat het een gevoelig onderwerp is, terwijl Hamilton's teambaas Toto Wolff het omschreef als "emotioneel". Wolff: "Het is duidelijk dat de coureurs in de Formule 1 de beste ter wereld zijn en hoge salarissen zouden moeten verdienen. Maar om op de lange termijn duurzaam te zijn, moeten Formule 1-teams winstgevend zijn zoals elk ander bedrijf."

Nieuw contract Hamilton

De plannen voor een maximum salaris zouden kunnen verklaren waarom Hamilton, 35, nog geen nieuwe contractvoorwaarden met Mercedes is overeenkomen voor 2021 en daarna. De Brit zelf ontkent dit echter: "Dat heeft er niets mee te maken. We hoorden al een tijdje geleden van het idee. Het is denk ik belangrijk dat de GPDA nauw samenwerkt met de Formule 1 om in de voortgang van de discussies te komen."

Alpha Tauri-baas Franz Tost zei toen hem werd gevraagd naar het salarisplafond: "Naar mijn smaak verdienen de coureurs sowieso te veel geld. Als ik iets te zeggen had, zou ik ze maximaal 10 miljoen dollar per jaar betalen."

"Als de races zonder publiek volgend jaar doorgaan, zal de Formule 1 minder verdienen en dus de teams ook minder inkomsten hebben. Waarom krijgen de coureurs dan wel hetzelfde salaris als voorheen? Ze zouden blij moeten zijn met de geweldige baan die ze hebben."

Ik vind dat men af moet blijven van het salaris van topsporters.

En als die wat normaal extreem veel verdienen een beetje minder zouden krijgen, kunnen de minder verdienende wat meer krijgen. Zonder deze rijders is er geen F1 kampioenschap waar de beste veel geld kan verdienen.

Heel mooi en waterdicht initiatief. Het is niet zo dat ze constructies gaan verzinnen om het salarisplafond te omzeilen.

Als je 30 miljoen te weinig vind in deze tijden dan is het tijd om wat anders te gaan doen denk ik. Er mogen best flinke bedragen betaald worden voor exceptionele talenten, maar het moet wel rendabel blijven voor de teams. Er zijn genoeg manieren voor exceptionele sporters om hun inkomen aan te vullen tot bedragen die normale mensen in hun hele leven niet op kunnen krijgen.

Ze zulllen altijd wel een manier vinden om het salaris op te krikken met wat kleine extra werkzaamheden voor de sponsoren van het team .

Franz Tost heeft helemaal gelijk. Die coureurs mogen blij zijn dat ze hier hun geld mee verdienen. Ik vind 10 miljoen nog veel. Dat mag prima de Balkenendenorm zijn wat mij betreft. Als het ze niet bevalt gaan ze maar ovals rijden.
