Versnellingsbak zorgt voor oerknal en geeft Magnussen letterlijk hoofdpijn

Een versnellingsbakprobleem tijdens de Grand Prix in Imola heeft er letterlijk toe geleid dat Kevin Magnussen een enorme hoofdpijn kreeg. Als gevolg hiervan moest hij zijn wagen in de pitbox moest parkeren en daardoor uit de race viel.

Haas ontdekte een versnellingsbakprobleem bij de auto van Magnussen tijdens de kwalificatie, maar koos ervoor om het element voor de race van zondag niet te vervangen om de coureur een gridstraf te besparen. Vanaf de 17e plaats op de startgrid begon de Deen zijn race, maar in de linkse bocht Tosa werd de Haas in een spin gegooid door Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari, waardoor Magnussen achteraan het veld zijn race moest vervolgen.

Hoofdpijn

Magnussen vocht zich een weg naar de top tien dankzij een lange eerste stint van 26 ronden op de medium band. Maar de problemen van de versnellingsbak van de vorige dag waren weer opgedoken en brachten de Haas-coureur van streek, waardoor ze een barstende hoofdpijn veroorzaakten die te pijnlijk bleek te zijn om te verdragen.

Na de race gaf Magnussen uitleg: "Het probleem kwam terug in de race, het was er vanaf de eerste ronde. Ik kon alleen maar langzaam schakelen, en het ging niet alleen traag, het is ook als een oerknal elke keer dat je schakelt. Het leek oké voor een paar ronden, maar daarna begon mijn hoofd te schudden. Tegen het einde had ik gewoon enorme hoofdpijn, dat heb ik toen ook aan het team verteld."

Gevraagd door zijn ingenieur of hij naar binnen wilde komen antwoordde een dappere Magnussen: "Het is mijn baan ..." Uiteindelijk besloot zijn team hem uit zijn lijden te verlossen.

"Ik denk dat ze het gevoel hadden dat er niets was om voor te vechten, dus gaven ze me een teken in de pits binnen te komen. Ik werd in een spin gebracht bij de start en dat was echt het einde. Ik verloor zoveel tijd om weer op het goede spoor te komen. Het tempo was eigenlijk heel goed, het was beter dan we hadden verwacht, zelfs met het schakelprobleem dat ons ongeveer een halve seconde per ronde kostte."

Onboard kon je niets horen van die "oerknal" bij het schakelen . . .
Was nochtans goed gestart maar na een aantal bochten te snel ingestuurd om onmiddellijk af te blokken - iets wat we Albon ook al een aantal keer zagen doen - met hetzelfde gevolg.
Mogelijk is de focus wat zoek door het verlies van zijn zitje.

Repsct voor HAAS om alsmaar door te gaan in de F1 zonder enige vorm van verbetering.
on amerikaans als je het mij vraagt.
Helaas zal HAAS nooit maar dan ook nooit kampioenswaardig materiaal hebben...jammer want een Amerikaanse veelvraat had ik graag willen zien.

Oerknal of big bang is de populaire benaming van de kosmologische theorie die op basis van de algemene relativiteitstheorie aannemelijk maakt dat 13,8 miljard jaar geleden het heelal ontstond uit een enorm heet punt (ca. 1028 K), met een bijna oneindig grote dichtheid, ofwel een singulariteit.

En dat allemaal in de achterbak van Magnussen. Het is wat...
