Haas vroeg Alfa Romeo om coureurs voor 2021 later pas bekend te maken

Het kan niet anders dan dat Mick Schumacher in 2021 een vol seizoen gaat racen bij Haas F1, nu Alfa Romeo haar line-up bekend heeft gemaakt. Schumacher leek op weg naar Alfa Romeo maar doordat het Italiaanse team bekend heeft gemaakt door te gaan met Raikkonen en Giovinazzi blijft Haas als enige optie over.

De 20-jarige Duitser en Formule 2-kampioenschapsleider wist nog niet of hij een plekje kreeg bij de Zwitserse renstal of de Amerikaanse renstal. Beide teams worden aangedreven door een Ferrari-motor. De Ferrari-junior lijkt nu op weg naar Haas. In Imola maakte Alfa Romeo bekend dat zowel Kimi Raikkonen als Antonio Giovinazzi - een ander lid van de Ferrari-academie - volgend jaar op hun plek blijven. Alleen was dit niet helemaal de bedoeling volgens Steiner.

"Ik vroeg Fred Vasseur om te wachten met zijn aankondiging tot na deze race, maar dat wilde hij blijkbaar niet", vertelde Haas-teambaas Gunther Steiner aan de krant Ekstra Bladet.

Hij wilde echter niet bevestigen dat Schumacher volgend jaar voor Haas rijdt. "Mick is een Ferrari-coureur. Er gebeurt veel, maar hij is hun coureur en niet de mijne", zei Steiner.

"Mijn plan is nog steeds dat we onze coureurs pas bekendmaken als het seizoen voorbij is. Natuurlijk willen de fans het weten, maar het geldt ook voor iedereen in het team. De coureurs zijn de belangrijkste mensen in het team. Om een goede teamgeest te garanderen, moeten we de mensen zo snel mogelijk vertellen wie bij ons komt racen, maar dat doen we pas als we het weten."

Ik zou zeggen dat ze beiden dan F1 waardig zouden zijn, vind dat Mazepin echt wel leuke races heeft gereden en ik vraag me echt af of Mick de F1 ooit gehaald zou hebben als het niet een Schumacher geweest was, ik denk van niet.
Hij heeft best leuke dingen laten zien maar is aan de top van de F2 g... [Lees verder]

Als je het toch pas na het seizoen wilt doen wat maakt het dan uit of Alfa het voor of na de race doet..

  Misschien wilden ze Perez naast Mazepin hebben. Maar dat die nog eerst probeert bij RBR binnen te komen en als dat niet lukt zou die pas bij haas uitkomen. Maar omdat Mick alleen bij Ferrari klanten terecht kan had Steiner nog de hoop dat Alfa Romeo Giovinazzi ging vervangen. Helaas, nu lijken er dus waarschijnlijk twee rookies bij haas volgend jaar

Ik kijk er naar uit om Mick Schumacher in de F1 te zien. Ik ga er geen verwachtingen bij hebben en laat me gewoon verrassen. Wel hoop ik (mede voor Mick ook) dat Mazepin NIET zijn teamgenoot wordt. Dat brengt helemaal niets en daar kan hij niets van leren. Mocht Hulkenberg naar Red Bull gaan, dan hoop ik gewoon dat Perez naar Haas kan gaan. Maar omgekeerd geldt hetzelfde. Mocht Perez naar Red Bull gaan, dan hoop ik dat Hulkenberg naar Haas gaat.

  Dat zou inderdaad het beste zijn, maar als Mazepin erg veel wil betalen dan weet ik niet of Gene Haas dat zal weigeren.

Het lijkt me duidelijk dat Haas volgend jaar met Schumacher en Mazepin gaat rijden. Twee rookies, waarvan Schumacher wel een F1 waardige, degelijke coureur lijkt, maar Mazepin wat mij betreft niets in de F1 te zoeken heeft. Misschien wacht men bij Haas om te zien of Mazepin voldoende punten vergaard, maar met de nieuwe superlicentie regels zou dat volgens mij geen issue meer moeten zijn.

"De coureurs zijn de belangrijkste mensen in het team." Ik vind dit best wel een stellige uitspraak. Zonder autobouwer heb je geen raceauto, lijkt me ook niet onbelangrijk.

Ik blijf hopen op Perez/Schumacher. Perez kan best wat geld meenemen en heeft de link met de Amerikaanse/Mexicaanse markt.

Mazepin dan een jaartje als reservecoureur met 10 vrije trainingen.

  Mazepin sr zal alleen geld willen als het op de Stroll manier gaat: team kopen en zoonlief rijdt. Anders waarschijnlijk geen deal met Haas. ( Stiekem hoop ik daar wel op maar ja)
