Hamilton neemt Russell in bescherming na crash achter Safety Car

Collega-coureurs springen in de verdediging voor George Russell nadat de Williams-coureur een gênante fout maakte tijdens de race op Imola. In scènes vergelijkbaar met het incident van Romain Grosjean in 2018 in Baku, crashte de anders indrukwekkende Brit Russell afgelopen zondag achter de Safety Car.

Russell was zichtbaar troosteloos na het incident en schreef op sociale media dat er geen excuses zijn en dat hij deze dag nooit zal vergeten.

De Fransman Grosjean sprong in de bres ter verdediging van zijn collega: "Man, ik ken het gevoel", zei de Haas-coureur tegen de 22-jarige Russell. "Het zal even duren voordat je het vergeet, maar wat je doet is mega. Blijf pushen."

Hamilton vindt Russell geweldig

Zesvoudig wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton verleende ook zijn steun aan de teleurgestelde Russell. De huidig wereldkampioen: "George, je hebt alles gegeven. Het is oké om fouten te maken en het is oké om de pijn te voelen. Ik heb meer meegemaakt dan ik me kan herinneren."

"Je bent een geweldige kerel. Houd je hoofd omhoog en blijf pushen, op naar de volgende race."

Voor het incident in Imola vertelde tweevoudig wereldkampioen Fernando Alonso een verslaggever dat Russell de beste is van de huidige lichting jonge coureurs.

"Dat betekent ontzettend veel voor mij, afkomstig van een man als Fernando", zei Russell toen hij over het compliment hoorde.

Safety Car-coureur Maylander

Bernd Maylander rijdt al jaren de Safety Car en zag het vreemde voorval niet helemaal gebeuren maar constateerde wel iets vreemds: "Het ene moment was hij er, het volgende moment was hij weg."

Hoezo die verdediging ? Het was een blunder.
En waarom Hamilton ? Waarom nu ?
Je wordt alleen maar ziek van dit soort mooie praatjes van dit soort 'collega's' . Je weet dat ze het zeggen ter meerdere glorie van zichzelf. Je weet dat ze het niet menen , maar wel zeggen om hun eerdere praatjes te rechtvaardigen.
Laat Hamilton Hamilton maar eens een kans geven om zich bij Mercedes te bewijzen.... maar dat doet 'ie niet hoor.
Dat is veel te gevaarlijk voor z'n ego.

  Max kan ook zijn zitje geven waarom moet het voor jullie altijd hamilton zijn dieet moet,ik versta het wel hoor hij is de enige die hij niet de baas kan ,de vos is veel leper dan iedereen denkt ,my lef front tyer is not so good .Redbull loopt erin en dan rijdt hij de ene snelle tijd na de andere.

Heb het al eens eerder gezeg meneer Hamilton je bent zo hypocriet als de pest, je zou de KKK nog steunen,
als je maar opvalt.

  Wat een misselijke reactie. Het wordt tijd dat de moderators eens keihard op gaan treden tegen dit soort haat. Ben zelf geen Hamilton fan maar wel helemaal klaar met die blijde haat en afgunst tegen zijn persoon.

  Het is dweilen met de kraan open de afgunst is van bepaalde fans zo groot dat ze nog enkel een rijder zien en je weet wie dat is ,ze geven nog liever credit aan de bloemen langs het circuit dan aan hamilton ,

Als je echt de geweldige rijder bent die je wil zijn moet je zeggen wat een klootzak ben ik dat me dat overkomen is , sorry team maar dat sloeg nergens op wat ik daar liet zien . Nu meteen troosteloos rond jammeren laat eigenlijk zien waarom je niet in de Mercedes van Bottas rondrijd en dat Toto allang door heeft dat je nog lang niet zo ver bent als dat je roept.
