Magnussen baalt: "Ik heb gewoon pech"

Kevin Magnussen denkt dat hij pech heeft om zijn F1-stoeltje te verliezen. De 28-jarige coureur werd in 2014 door McLaren naar de Formule 1 gehaald, reed vervolgens voor Renault en bracht de laatste vier seizoenen door bij Haas. Voor 2021 kiest het kleine Amerikaanse team voor twee nieuwe coureurs.

Zijn teamgenoot Romain Grosjean weet wel waardoor dit komt: "Het is geen goed jaar met de hele wereld en hoe de economie ervoor staat. Daarom zitten Kevin en ik nu zonder contract."

De Deense krant BT zei dat het contract van Magnussen ook afliep, net zoals niet alleen Haas maar ook de persoonlijke sponsor van de coureur Jack en Jones het financieel moeilijk heeft. Hierdoor begeeft Magnussen zich in een lastig pakket en heeft hij het geluk niet aan zijn zijde. Hij heeft simpelweg pech, al heeft hij op andere moment wel geluk gehad in zijn Formule 1-carrière.

"Ik heb pech gehad. Ik voel aan de mensen om me heen dat het er niet om gaat dat ik niet presteer. Als 2020 mijn laatste in de Formule 1 blijkt te zijn, zal ik zeker terugkijken en blij zijn met wat ik heb gedaan. Ik heb altijd geloofd dat ik heb wat nodig is om succesvol te zijn in de Formule 1, maar ik ben in ieder geval blij dat ik verder heb kunnen komen dan velen anderen ooit is gelukt."

"Ik heb meer dan 100 races gereden, veel punten gescoord, op het podium gestaan en voor een aantal geweldige teams gereden. Ik heb veel geweldige ervaringen opgedaan in de Formule 1", zei Magnussen.

Pech, maar zelf ook geen stempel weten te drukken... Op Spa was hij de snelste van alle Ferrari powered auto's en knalt hij eraf in quali... Zo zijn er weel meer momenten dat hij bezig is met snelle dingen, dat er iets gebeurt waardoor zn snelheid weer niet benoemswaardig blijft.

Toch wel een beetje een miskent talent, heeft wel de snelheid en met beter materiaal had er vast wat meer ingezeten. Mits hij zijn karakter wat beter onder controle zou hebben natuurlijk.

De Hulk en ook Perez zijn niet eens zeker voor een F1 stoeltje, dus Magnussen & Grosjean met of zonder Covid -19 hoeven ze op 1 stoeltje bij andere teams ook niet te rekenen.
