Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen reed als eerste naar buiten in de eerste kwalificatiesessie. De 23-jarige Nederlander spinde echter al snel, maar kon gelukkig zijn weg vervolgen. Hij had het moeilijk op de inters, maar gaat nu over naar full wets.
