Seidl: "Dit is de reden waarom Ferrari voor Sainz heeft gekozen"

Volgens McLaren-teambaas Andreas Seidl is de transfer naar Ferrari van Carlos Sainz niet zonder reden. Zo meent hij dat zijn coureur Carlos Sainz afgelopen weekend maar al te goed heeft laten zien wat hij waard is. De Spanjaard reed - volgens zijn eigen woorden - de moeilijkste race van zijn carrière. Ondanks dat wist hij vanaf P13 naar een knappe vijfde plek te rijden. 

Na afgelopen weekend zat Andreas Seidl tegenover motorsport.com. Daar werd hem gevraagd over Sainz zijn aanstaande transfer, en waarom Ferrari zo'n interesse heeft in de jonge Spanjaard. Volgens hem zijn daar meerdere redenen voor. "We wisten natuurlijk al door de afgelopen paar jaar dat hij van deze moeilijke omstandigheden houdt", zo vertelt Seidl. "Hij heeft het talent om precies de juiste hoeveelheid risico te nemen. Hij weet de auto op de baan te houden, en tegelijkertijd nog steeds naar voren in het veld te schuiven, dat is gewoon echt een dik pluspunt", zo meent de McLaren-teambaas.

Volgens Andreas Seidl is de motivatie van Sainz een van de redenen waarom Ferrari voor hem heeft gekozen. "Hij is 100% toegewijd, en dat motiveert teams heel erg", zo verklaart Seidl. "Dat heeft ook heel erg bijgedragen aan de resultaten die wij hedendaags behalen."

Volgend seizoen rijdt Carlos Sainz naast Charles Leclerc. Aangezien Charles Leclerc al gewend is aan de auto en het team zal hij in het begin vast en zeker sneller zijn. Echter, wanneer Carlos eenmaal gewend is aan de auto zal het duidelijker worden wie de leider in het team wordt.

Ik vind hem geen verkeerde coureur, maar het zal me verbazen als hij Leclerc bij kan benen, laat staan kan verslaan.

Mclaren gaat er met Ricciardo in mijn ogen iig op vooruit, want hem reken ik wel tot de top.

      Carlos kan in mijn ogen echt wel een sterk potje sturen, maar Charles is wat mij betreft echt wel een maat(je) beter.

      Carlos in 'n heel goei chauffeurke, maar ik denk niet dat hij van het kaliber Charlie is, maar ik laat me graag verrassen.
      Volgend jaar is nog niet doorslaggevend, maar in 2022 moet Carlos er toch staan.

      dat wordt geen drukke bedoeling, die durf ik wel aan!
      ze weten niet wat ze missen, alleen omwille van de Sainz dag zou ik al roepen dat Carlos beter is dan Charles...

      Ik vind Sainz er sterk hoor dit jaar. Het zal zeker niet gemakkelijk worden voor Leclerc. Ik zie het een beetje als Hamilton/Button bij McLaren destijds deze combo.

      @Felipe, ja dat verwacht ik ook, Leclerc lijkt me in de basis wat sneller, maar ik acht Sainz wel in staat om er bovenop te zitten en hem te verslaan mocht Charles een mindere race hebben

      Norris weet maar moeilijk af te rekenen met Sainz, en ik schat Ricciardo nog wel hoger in dan Sainz dus dat wordt lastig.

      Ricciardo & Norris is wel echt een prachtige line-up. Ik hoop echt dat McLaren er steeds beter bij gaat zitten!

      Sainz gaat het bij Ferrari denk ik extreem lastig krijgen. Leclerc hoort in mijn ogen in de top 3 coureurs van dit moment. HAM/VER/LEC is in mijn ogen de top 3, met RIC daarachter op 4.

      Sainz gaat het volgens mij juist heel erg goed doen, want ookal is hij hier in de burelen vaak door galg en rad gegaan, Carlos is best een goeie coureur als je het mij vraagt, en er was een special, die hem volgde, toen hij net was overgestapt naar McLaren, en die gozer heeft echt volledige toewijding ... ook vind ik hem stukken sympathieker dan ?eclerc

    Charles zal waarschijnlijk iets sneller en Sainz meer ervaren, een perfecte duo lijkt me. Doet me denken aan een jonge versie van Kimi en Massa. Als Ferrari terug aan de top is, dan zal het voor Mercedes heel lastig gaan worden.
