Renault wilde populaire Ricciardo overtuigen te blijven

Daniel Ricciardo tekende 2 jaar geleden een zeer lucratief contract bij Renault en vertrok toen bij Red Bull Racing. De bedoeling was dat de Australiër het team zou gaan leiden richting de top maar nog voor dit seizoen begon kondigde McLaren aan dat Ricciardo vanaf 2021 voor het Britse team zal rijden als opvolger van Carlos Sainz.

Als opvolger voor Ricciardo heeft Renault, dat volgend jaar Alpine heet, Fernando Alonso van stal gehaald - die na 2 jaar zijn terugkeer zal maken op de F1-grid.

Beslissingen door corona

Toch is men bij Renault nog altijd blij met Ricciardo, zo vertelt sportief directeur Alan Permane. Hij zegt dat Ricciardo enorm populair is binnen het team en dat hij nog altijd de coureur met startnummer 3 probeert te overtuigen om te blijven. Voor het corona tijdperk kwam hij naar de fabriek en dan werd iedereen verzameld. Op die momenten zag je meteen hoe populair hij is binnen het team. Er is van iedereen liefde voor hem."

"Ik vertel hem ook elke week dat het niet te laat is om van gedachten te veranderen. Serieus, dat doe ik! Natuurlijk is het ironisch en ik weet dat hij niet van gedachten kan veranderen, en hij doet ook niet alsof hij zegt dat hij het zelfs zou overwegen uit respect voor zijn nieuwe team en zo. Wie weet als dit een normaal seizoen was geweest en de coureurs niet hadden besloten over van team te wisselen voordat het seizoen begonnen was, wie weet dan waar we nu zouden zijn?"

"We staan op de plek waar we horen te staan, dus daar moeten we gewoon mee omgaan, en zonder dat zouden we Fernando Alonso niet terug zien komen. Dus de ene deur gaat dicht, een andere gaat open voor het team."

het is een groot vraagteken inderdaad, qua pu maken ze een stap voorwaarts maar in hoeverre heeft de samenwerking nog 'aanloop' nodig voordat de resultaten er zijn...
En ondertussen zit Renault niet stil, die zetten zeker stappen.

Ik kan me voorstellen dat het vertrek van Ricciardo een aderlating voor Renault is, die jongen hoort bij de topcoureurs en ook qua uitstraling/voorkomen is het een perfect 'reclamebord' voor ieder team en/of merk.....
Vorig seizoen vond ik de combi Ricciardo/Renault maar niets, alsof hij daar niet thuishoorde maar dit seizoen is het echt steeds beter gaan lopen.
Voor Ricciardo zelf lijkt me de stap naar McLaren een goed, ik zie dat wel een succes verhaal worden.
Voor wat betreft Renault is het goed dat Alonso beschikbaar was en ook de ambitie heeft om terug te keren, blijft natuurlijk ook een grote naam uit de F1, en dat is toch belangrijk voor het merk. Hoop dat Alonso op de goede vorm kan voortborduren dan wordt het nog leuk voorin

  Naast hoe Alonso het gaat doen, ben ik ook benieuwd naar de krachtmeting met Ocon. Tot op heden valt hij me tegen en hij zal volgend jaar tegen Fernando flink aan de bak moeten...

  @f(1)forum, dat lijkt me een nobrainer. Het eerste half jaar ligt het nog redelijk bij elkaar daarna is het gedaan met Ocon.

Is wat bij voor te stellen. En zo de ontwikkelingen nu gaan is het nog maar de vraag of Ricciardo wel de juiste keuze heeft gemaakt. Hij zal hopelijk toch niet de geschiedenis ingaan als de coureur die steeds foute keuzes maakt.

Ik heb alle vertrouwen in Daniel en McLaren.
Een hele goede combinatie en samen met Lando.
De sfeer in het team is volgens mij ook geweldig.
Laat de shoey’s maar komen.
