Tijdens ronde 54 kwam er een enorme rookpluim uit de achterkant van Sergio Perez zijn RP20. De Mexicaan probeerde er nog even mee door te rijden, maar uiteindelijk sloegen de vlammen toe en was hij geforceerd zijn auto aan de kant te zetten. Alexander Albon schuift daardoor door naar de derde plek.
