Steiner wil Mazepin helpen: "We moeten hem goed begeleiden"

Gunther Steiner denkt dat hij Nikita Mazepin onder controle kan krijgen. De 21-jarige Mazepin komt de F1 binnen met een direct aangetaste reputatie, en niet alleen omdat zijn vader een machtige Russische miljardair is. Mazepin is nu al voor Haas een hoofdpijndossier, terwijl hij nog geen meter gereden heeft voor het team dat in 2021 hem een stoeltje heeft gegeven.

In 2016 kwam hij onder vuur te liggen omdat hij Callum Ilott had geslagen, hij werd onlangs in Bahrein pittig toegesproken wegens gevaarlijk rijden en er zijn oproepen voor Haas om hem te ontslaan nadat er video naar voren kwam waarin hij naar verluidt een vriendin 'betast'.

Britse media stellen dat Haas, en met name teambaas Gunther steiner, nu al de handen vol hebben om Mazepin te managen. Steiner zegt hierover: "We weten hiervan met Nikita en ik denk dat ik hem onder controle kan krijgen. Ik kijk naar zijn prestaties en voor de rest kunnen we hem helpen. We moeten er gewoon voor zorgen dat hij deze dingen niet blijft doen en hem daarbij begeleiden."

    Ik hoop van harte dat hij er grip op krijgt. Ik ben natuurlijk bevooroordeeld maar ik heb nu al medelijden met Steiner, Schumacher en de overige teamleden.

      er stond onlangs een vrachtwagen te lossen bij het Haas kantoor, een pallet paracetamol special voor Gunther, daar komt hij wel een paar races mee door

      Ik denk ook dat we hier met een vertalingsissue te maken hebben; ik heb ff het brondocument geraadpleegd en daarin staat niet "goed begeleiden", maar "goed aanlijnen". That's a different cookie ;-)

    Ik denk dat Haas weer een paard van Troje heeft binnengehaald met Mazepin. Na Rich Energy, de club van fraudeurs en witwassers, nu een club Russen die absoluut de baas willen spelen.

    Steiner is een sympathieke vent hoor, en heb vaak het gevoel dat 'ie betere bazen verdient dan 'ie krijgt.

      Mazepin vergelijken met Hunt? ik vond Hunt wel een apart karakter maar was zeer zeker niet een verwend rijk rijdertje , Mazepin komt nog niet in de schaduw van James "big balls"Hunt

    In het weekend als er een GP is, dan zal hij normaal moeten doen, ik zie niet echt problemen, anders zal hij er rap naast staan. Wat hij voor de rest doet, mij boeit het niet echt.

    Haas heeft een 2 weeks verblijf bij wat Tibetaans monikken geboekt voor 1 van hun rijders. Daar gaan ze 2 weken lang mediteren. Hiermee hoopt Steiner enigszins de zaak op de rails te krijgen . Mocht dit niet baten hebben ze al bij Gordon geinformeerd of hij niet een jaartje correursbegeleider wou worden. Nikita heeft al gereageerd dat hij dan nog lever wat Polonium van Hondamp drinkt
