Ricciardo onder de indruk van ontwikkeling Verstappen: "Hij rijdt op een zeer hoog niveau"

Afgelopen zondag kwam het Formule 1-seizoen van 2020 aan zijn einde, en meteen na afloop werd Daniel Ricciardo - die toen meteen zijn laatste race voor Renault reed - meteen voor het blok gezet. In the 'In the Fastlane'-podcast werd hij gevraagd wie zijn top 3 coureurs van 2020 waren.

Als eerste noemde Ricciardo uiteraard Lewis Hamilton, die hij Mr. Constant noemt. "Hamilton zijn statistieken zijn gestoord", aldus Ricciardo. "Als ik in de buurt van zijn records wil komen, dan zou ik de komende vier jaar alle mogelijke races winnen. Het is de consistentie waarmee hij rijdt; zijn starts zijn altijd goed en hij presteert op zijn best wanneer het het meest telt - dat is hoe de geweldige coureurs zich onderscheiden van de goede."

Max Verstappen liet volgens Daniel Ricciardo ook een goede indruk achter. "In 2016 maakte hij al een goede ontwikkeling mee,", aldus Ricciardo. "Maar in 2017 ging dat alleen maar harder. Max zou één van 's werelds beste karters zijn - die auto's hebben veel grip. Toen de auto's van 2016 op 2017 veranderden en dus meer grip kregen, ging hij alleen maar beter rijden."

"In 2017 - toen ik nog teamgenoot van hem was - was de snelheid er al maar moest hij de foutjes er nog uit filteren. In het begin van 2018 waren die foutjes er nog af en toe, maar sinds die fouten er niet meer zijn rijdt hij op een zeer hoog niveau", zo concludeert de ex-Renault coureur.

Daniel Ricciardo rijdt volgend seizoen voor het team van McLaren. Kan de goedlachse Australiër met het team uit Woking - die volgend jaar met een Mercedes-krachtbron uitgerust is - vanaf dat seizoen weer met Max Verstappen strijden om podiumplekken - en wie weet nog meer?

We kennen b.v. het verhaal dat Jos hem op het tankstation in Italië achtergelaten heeft natuurlijk allemaal al, maar vondt het toch weer heftig om te zien.
En dan pakt het bij Max allemaal goed uit nu, maar hoeveel van die jongetjes en meisjes worden in het extreme gepus... [Lees verder]

off topic;
Ik heb gisteren de docu serie over Max gekeken.
Nu viel mij op dat ze 2keer lieten zien waar Max zijn sleutel onder de mat heeft liggen voor zijn appartement in Monaco. Nu geloof ik best dat je niet zomaar bij zijn appartement komt, maar ik dacht dat Ric ook in dat gebouw woont. Dan hoop ik maar dat de sleutel inmiddels weg is, anders zie ik Max zijn overals aan de muur nog wel eens vervangen worden door McLaren overals.. 😁

  Zat ook al te denken.. maar wat een geweldig stuk hahaha. Hij kon het 'gaatje' niet vinden.
  Zat wel te denken, menig psycholoog en pedagoog zou wel een heel boek kunnen schrijven over de opvoeding zeg; Max heeft het niet makkelijk gehad en ben ook zeker niet jaloers

  En dan pakt het bij Max allemaal goed uit nu, maar hoeveel van die jongetjes en meisjes worden in het extreme gepushed door hun ouders, voor autosport, voor voetbal, voor muziek, voor school etc. en redden het uiteindelijk toch niet...
  
  De band met Jos lijkt iig prima te zijn, dat zal vast een goede indicator zijn dat er ook heel veel liefde en affectie tegenover staat en heeft gestaan. 🤗
