Kubica en sponsor Orlen blijven ook in 2021 aan Alfa Romeo verbonden

Robert Kubica en zijn sponsor hebben bevestigd dat ze in 2021 bij Alfa Romeo blijven. Teambaas Frederic Vasseur maakte vorige week het nieuws bekend en onthulde dat reservecoureur Kubica en titelsponsor Orlen tevreden waren met alle activiteiten in het moeilijke jaar.

De president van de Poolse oliedetailhandelaar PKN Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, bevestigde: "Het loont voor ons om te blijven. Het advertentie-equivalent alleen al bedraagt 400 miljoen PLN (ongeveer $100 miljoen). Dit heeft ook gevolgen voor onze detailhandel."

"Robert wordt zeer goed ontvangen door Polen en in het buitenland, met maar liefst 70 procent van de mensen die hem associëren met ons merk", voegt Obajtek toe.

Het is nog niet bekend of Kubica de lopende reserverol gaat combineren met een racestoeltje elders. De 35-jarige coureur zei: "Elke kans om in een F1-auto te rijden is iets speciaals. Ik ben blij dat we deze samenwerking kunnen voortzetten, maar het is ook heel goed mogelijk dat ik in andere klassen zal racen. Iets anders. Oefening baart kunst."
