Lance Stroll baalt stevig van vele gemiste kansen in 2020

Lance Stroll kijkt met gemengde gevoelens terug op het Formule 1-seizoen 2020. De Canadees behaalde in Turkije zijn eerste pole position in de koningsklasse van de autosport en hij finishte twee keer op het podium, maar er had ook veel meer in gezeten. Dat laatste beseft de coureur van Racing Point (nu Aston Martin, red.) maar al te goed.

"We hadden een heel sterke auto", citeert Motorsportweek.com hem. "Het team had in de winter geweldig werk geleverd om deze wagen te ontwikkelen. Van mijn kant was het niet het meest vlekkeloze jaar. Er waren wel wat hoogtepunten, zoals de pole position en de twee podiumplekken, maar we hebben veel meer kansen laten liggen om op het podium te eindigen en punten te pakken."

Stroll somt op: "Hongarije was een mogelijkheid, maar het was nat waardoor het anders liep en we finishten als vierde. In Mugello lagen we absoluut op koers voor een podium. Ik reed vierde en was op weg naar de nummer drie, met veel meer snelheid. Turkije was ook een grote gemiste kans. Ik reed dertig ronden aan de leiding en kwam slechts als negende over de streep, mede door schade aan mijn auto."

"Zo zijn er veel races geweest waarin we een mooi of beter resultaat door de vingers hebben laten glippen. Tot overmaat van ramp raakte ik ook nog besmet met Covid-19. Al met al was het een jaar van gemiste kansen en dat is frustrerend, maar dat hoort ook bij deze sport. Het gaat op en neer. Het is zaak om de mooie momenten te koesteren en te accepteren dat het soms wat meer tegenzit. In de tweede helft van vorig seizoen zat het in elk geval niet mee."

Hij had een kans om zich waardig terug te trekken, om Perez en Vettel voor het team van zijn vader te laten racen, maar die heeft 'ie gemist :P.

  Ach was ook maar een grap met een serieuze ondertoon. Ja Lance kan best hard rijden. Dat heeft 'ie bewezen .
  Maar zijn succes op het hoogste niveau is ook grotendeels gekocht door zijn vader. En idd iedereen zou de kansen grijpen en zeker zijn zitje niet opgeven, zelfs niet aan een sterkere coureur, maar je moet eerlijk zijn dat vader Stroll absoluut niet in F1 zou sponsoren om de beste coureurs een kans te geven.
  Dus misschien meer een sneer naar de miljardair dan naar een joch wat graag in een snelle wagen rijdt..

Het zijn vaak de meest simpele of gelijksoortige zieltjes die b.v. nog niet zo lang geleden met knikkeren op het schoolplein altijd verloren, die graag mensen die wel wat bereikt hebben tot de grond toe en anoniem afbranden, de helden. <

  lol Haters will hate, of niet, meiden ?
  Echt waar wanneer is de Stroll fanclub opgericht op deze site ? Wanneer hebben we hier bewondering gekregen voor rijkeluiszoontjes die weliswaar best goed racen, maar niet tot de besten horen, maar dan toch met behulp van hup paps betere coureurs de sport uitwerken ?
  Maar goed als dit de trend wordt, dan vind ik het best hoor.
  Allemaal in polonaise achter de poen aan.
