Teamgenoot van Max Verstappen verspeelt zege in simrace

Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen nam dit weekend weer deel aan een simrace, de BMW SIM GT Cup. De Nederlander vormde bij Team Redline (Orange) een duo met Daniel Juncadella, die zich twee dagen eerder bij Team Redline had gevoegd. En het tweetal had meteen kunnen winnen.

De race vond plaats op het circuit van Daytona. Max Verstappen leidde de wedstrijd een groot deel van zijn 1 uur durende stint. Vervolgens was het de beurt aan nieuwkomer Juncadella. De Spanjaard pakte drie ronden voor het einde van de wedstrijd de koppositie terug.

In de laatste ronde ging het alsnog mis. Juncadella kwam slecht uit de chicane het rechte stuk op, waardoor de andere auto van Team Redline - bestuurd door Gianni Vecchio en Jonas Wallmeier - na een slipstream nog voorbij kwam. Het verschil op de streep was miniem, maar Verstappen en Juncadella moesten uiteindelijk genoegen nemen met een tweede plaats.
