Alpine: "Alonso heeft kaakbreuk en succesvolle operatie"

Fernando Alonso ligt in het ziekenhuis met een kaakbreuk die hij heeft opgelopen tijdens het fietsen in Zwitserland, maar zal naar verwachting klaar zijn voor het nieuwe Formule 1-seizoen. De nieuwe Alpine F1-coureur bereidt zich voor op het seizoen 2021, waar hij voor het eerst in drie jaar weer in de sport zal terugkeren.

In een verklaring zei Alpine: "Na zijn fietsongeval gisteren (donderdag) werd Fernando Alonso ter observatie gehouden in het ziekenhuis in Zwitserland. Medici ontdekten een breuk in zijn bovenkaak en voerden een succesvolle corrigerende operatie uit. Het behandelende medische team is tevreden met zijn vorderingen. Fernando zal nog 48 uur in het ziekenhuis onder observatie blijven."

Training hervatten

Het nieuwe F1-seizoen gaat op 28 maart van start in Bahrein. Het oliestaatje organiseert tussen 12 en 14 maart ook testsessie voor het seizoen.

Alpine is ervan overtuigd dat Alonso fit genoeg zal zijn om in de allereerste race van het team te rijden. "Vooruitkijkend, zal hij na een paar dagen volledige rust de training geleidelijk kunnen hervatten. We verwachten dat hij volledig operationeel is om zich voor te bereiden op het seizoen."

  Voorlopig worden dat veel milkshakes en smoothies. Kan even duren voor hij weer ergens zijn tanden in zet. En ja dat mag ik zeggen, onlangs zelf een vervelend tandarts bezoek gehad met twee vullingen die kapot waren gegaan, en met die kou zeurt alles nog langer door :(

Blijkt maar weer; fietsen op de openbare weg is veel gevaarlijker dan F1 op het circuit.

  Klopt. Roeptoeter ik ook al jaren. En dan introduceert de F1 de ene na de andere veiligheidsmaatregel waardoor auto's lelijker worden, circuits saaier en rijden we vaak eindeloos achter een safetycar omdat er 50 meter verderop een auto stil staat. Wat dat betreft is wielrennen echt hardcore. MotoGP is ook 20x gevaarlijker dan F1. Op 2 wielen ben je veel kwetsbaarder en zit je niet ingepakt in een overlevingscel zoals in F1. Kortom: echte kerels.
