Alonso nuchter: "Kunnen net zo goed op P6 als op P15 terechtkomen"

Fernando Alonso verwacht ook komend seizoen veel spanning en strijd in de subtop in de Formule 1. Achter de twee verwachte topteams Mercedes en Red Bull Racing zal het dringen geblazen zijn. De verschillen zijn klein en dus kunnen de resultaten van die teams nogal variëren, afhankelijk van een positieve of een negatieve uitschieter. Alpine, de werkgever van Alonso, behoort waarschijnlijk tot die subtop en dus kan het alle kanten op.

De 39-jarige Spanjaard, momenteel herstellende van een aanrijding tijdens een trainingsritje op de fiets, houdt overal rekening mee. "Ik ben er nog niet echt mee bezig, we zijn daarvoor te vroeg in de voorbereiding", aldus de tweevoudig wereldkampioen die na twee jaar afwezigheid zijn comeback maakt. "Misschien dat we na de wintertest een voorstelling kunnen maken of mogen dromen over waar we staan bij de eerste race. Op dit moment heb ik daar nog geen gedachten over."

"We moeten met beide benen op de grond blijven", predikt Alonso realiteitszin tegenover Formula1.com. "Er zijn wat veranderingen, maar niet al te ingrijpende. De performance en de pikorde zullen dan ook niet drastisch verschillen met die van vorig jaar. Mercedes zal weer vooraan staan, gevolgd door Red Bull Racing. Daarachter komt een grote groep met teams die aan elkaar gewaagd zijn, waaronder Alpine. We kunnen net zo goed op P6 of P7 als op P15 terechtkomen, zo krap zijn de verschillen. Ons doel is om continu tot de top tien te behoren."

Na twee jaar uit de Formule 1 moest Alonso naar eigen zeggen wel weer even wennen aan de bolide, zo gaf hij toe. "De ontwikkeling is in alles veel sneller gegaan dan ik voor mogelijk hield, daardoor was de auto bij de Young Drivers-test in Abu Dhabi nog sneller dan ik. Ik moest mijn rempunten aanpassen en over mijn bochtensnelheid nadenken. Het was zeker niet nieuw voor me, mijn geheugen is prima, maar mijn vorige twee races waren de Indy 500 en de Dakar-rally. Met een vierwiel aangedreven auto door de woestijn rijden of met een Formule 1-bolide afstormen op een bocht, dat is een verschil van dag en nacht."

Hij zal eerst zijn teammaat moeten gaan verslaan want die zal er alles aan gelegen zijn om hem voor te blijven.

Met twee enorme ego’s kan dat nog wel eens een leuke strijd gaan worden.

Allee Fredje toch, dat is geen instelling voor El Matador, hij moet waarschijnlijk nog wat bijkomen van die klapper, hij gaat natuurlijk voor het podium ;)

  Is er bekend door wat voor auto hij is aangereden?
  Ik vermoed door een Mercedes en mogelijk is er een stukje van achtergebleven in zijn lichaam. Daarom begint hij nu al de verwachtingen naar beneden te stellen. Maar let maar op, Alonso wordt straks dominant kampioen! ;-)

Gooi eerst eens 2 kannen Sangria achterover en ga dan iets roepen.
Waarschijnlijk zegt hij dan hetzelfde alleen komt het er dan wat minder verstaanbaar en slomer eruit.....
