Red Bull Racing reserveert shakedown RB16B voor Max Verstappen

Red Bull Racing zwijgt tot op heden als het graf als het aankomt op de presentatiedatum voor de nieuwe RB16B. De Oostenrijkse renstal is een van de twee teams in de Formule 1 die nog geen datum geprikt hebben voor de onthulling van de bolide voor 2021.

Er sijpelt echter al wel wat nieuws door over een eventuele shakedown van de nieuwe RB16B. Racingnews365.nl en het blad Formule 1 berichten dat Max Verstappen volgende week de eerste meters van de nieuwe Red Bull Racing-auto voor zijn rekening zal nemen.

Net als McLaren en Williams deze week al deden heeft Red Bull Racing plannen voor een filmdag op het circuit van Silverstone. Daarbij mag een team maximaal 100 kilometer rijden op speciaal daarvoor bestemde Pirelli-banden. Welke dag de shakedown precies plaats zal vinden is niet duidelijk.

Red Bull Racing denkt overigens ook aan een extra test voor nieuwe aanwinst Sergio Perez. Zeker als de Mexicaan de shakedown van de RB16B aan Verstappen moet overlaten zal hij op een andere manier willen wennen aan het stuurwiel en de procedures zoals die bij zijn nieuwe werkgever gelden.

Het verhaal gaat dat Red Bull Racing een eendaagse of tweedaagse testsessie met een Honda aangedreven Scuderia Toro Rosso-auto uit 2018 op Silverstone in gedachten heeft. "Met slechts één test wordt het voor Sergio erg lastig om gelijk zijn weg te vinden bij ons", aldus teambaas Christian Horner tegenover Motorsport-Total.com.

Ik vraag mij af of die privé testen (die heel kostbaar zijn) ook uit potje komen die onder de budgetcap vallen.

Mijn vermoeden is van niet.

Bij Ferrari hebben ze 2 weken terug al een stuk of 5 dagen met een 2018 wagen rond gereden en daarbij vast toch stieken het 1 en ander getest wat voor 2021 van toepassing is

Voorheen in de jaren van Schumacher was er geen ander team dat zo veel veel testkilometers aflegde als ferrari en Schumacher, daar was toen geen limiet voor. Er zijn veel insiders die denken dat Ferrari hun topjaren in de F1 daaraan te danken hadden.
Op zich niet bijzonder, Mercedes heeft ook meer dan elk ander team geld gestoken in hun F1 project het laatste decennia dus zo dat het rijkste team wint is al zou oud als de F1 bestaat.

Het gaat dan toch niet om de tijden, maar om de procedures, het stuurtje en de power unit te leren kennen. Anders verliezen ze nog een test dag alleen maar voor het leren van de auto.

  Ik moet even denken aan een zekere coureur die rustig aan zijn koffie zat en binnen 2 dagen in de sim redelijk competatief mee reed.
  Vraag me af hoeveel uur perez al in de sim heeft doorgebracht en dan plakt hij er nog een testdag achteraan...maar hij rijd natuurlijk in een diva en niet in een roze treinstel

Natuurlijk mag Max dat, net zoals bij McLaren Norris als eerste met de nieuwe auto reed, dat laat je liefst een coureur doen de de oude auto ook kent.
