Daniel Ricciardo paste in eerste instantie niet in de McLaren

Het team van McLaren heeft aanpassingen aan het stoeltje van Daniel Ricciardo moeten doorvoeren, anders paste de Australiër niet in de nieuwe MCL35M. Dat verkondigde de Australiër zelf na een succesvol verlopen shakedown met de bolide op het circuit van Silverstone.

Ricciardo heeft niet de ideale bouw voor een Formule 1-coureur. "Het is vrij normaal dat het in eerste instantie niet lukt. Ik heb brede heupen. Het was de eerste versie van mijn stoeltje en McLaren dacht dat het met de dimensies die zij in gedachten hadden wel zou gaan. Maar het ging niet."

Gelukkig voor de zevenvoudig Grand Prix-winnaar was het manco makkelijk te verhelpen. "Het lag gelukkig aan het stoeltje, niet aan de cockpit zelf. Het was niet de monocoque die te smal was", vervolgt Ricciardo. "We hebben het zitje aangepast en nu pas ik wel in de auto, geen probleem."

    Zie je wel, ik had zomaar Formule 1 coureur kunnen zijn. Net als Ricciardo zal ook ik met m'n 1,90m in eerste instantie niet in de Mclaren passen.
