Perez: "Het team is erg vriendelijk tegen me geweest - Max ook"

Vandaag is Sergio Perez bezig zijn eerste officiële kilometers te maken in een Red Bull Racing-wagen. Waar de Mexicaan eerst alleen middenveld-wagens heeft kunnen besturen, zal hij dit seizoen voor het eerst in zijn carrière een winnende auto kunnen proberen. Het team heeft hem tot nu toe heel welkom laten voelen.

"Het team is heel vriendelijk tegen me geweest tot nu toe", zo vertelt hij aan Ziggo Sport. "Iedereen, alle monteurs, Max ook. Helmut, Christian, en iedereen heeft me met open armen ontvangen." Ook meent de Mexicaan dat hij niet de indruk krijgt dat hij als tweede coureur wordt beschouwd binnen het team. "Nee, die indruk heb ik niet, ik voel me zelfverzekerd hier als coureur, zo vertelt Perez verder.

Perez hoopt dat vandaag precies zoals gister verloopt: veel ronden zonder problemen. "We kunnen erg weinig rijden - anderhalve dag testen per persoon is echt weinig. Zeker als je een nieuwe auto hebt. Het zal cruciaal zijn voor mij om zo snel mogelijk aan de auto te wennen", zo klinkt Perez verder. "Om die laatste drie tienden te vinden zul je langer de tijd nodig hebben in de auto, maar er zijn veel mensen die van teams zijn verwisseld en dat zelfde probleem hebben", zo klinkt Sergio Perez.

Perez rijdt vandaag de hele dag, waarna hij morgen in de ochtendsessie nog rijdt. In de middag neemt Max Verstappen het morgen over.

Hopenlijk kan hij mee, Maar de smoesjes van Max zijn teammaten raken ook een keer op natuurlijk. Als Perez niet regelmatig een podium scoort dan kan er maar 1 conclusie worden getrokken: Er staat geen maat op Verstappen.

Als er een nieuwe in het team komt doe je natuurlijk altijd vriendelijk tegen die persoon, je wilt iemand een goed gevoel geven en dat ie zich thuis gaat voelen..... Die vriendelijkheid kan natuurlijk wel veranderen afhankelijk van hoe je presteert en je gedraagt...

Natuurlijk, de eerste indrukken bij een nieuwe werkgever zijn altijd positief en naarmate er naar verwachting gepresenteerd gaat worden zal dat wel zo blijven.
