Max Verstappen schenkt helm aan David Coulthard

Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen heeft zijn helm, die hij weliswaar gebruikt heeft, cadeau gedaan aan voormalig Red Bull-coureur David Coulthard. De coureur die ook wel DC wordt genoemd, kreeg de helm van Verstappen omdat hij vandaag 50 jaar is geworden.

De Schot was de allereerste coureur van Red Bull Racing en was ook de nummer 1 binnen het Oostenrijkse team. Tijdens de GP van Monaco wist de coureur het eerste podium binnen te halen voor het team uit Milton Keynes. Na het 2008-seizoen stopte de Schot met de Formule 1. Hij ging daarna nog wel door in de autosport, van 2010 tot 2012 was het actief in de DTM. De coureur verdween niet helemaal uit de Formule 1, want hij is commentator bij Channel 4 en is wel eens voor Sky Sports of de Formula 1 aanwezig.

In totaal scoorde hij 60 punten voor Red Bull Racing. De coureur is ook nog regelmatig nog op de fabriek in Milton Keynes te vinden. De coureur had memorabele momenten met teambaas Christian Horner. Zo sprong hij ooit in een supermanpak met Horner in het zwembad.

Max Verstappen heeft hem vanochtend een mooi cadeau gegeven. De Nederlander geeft niet vaak zijn helmen weg. Ze zijn ook maar sporadisch te vinden op veiligsites of bij liefhebbers. Het is dus een erg speciaal moment voor DC, die de helm van Verstappen in ontvangst mocht nemen. De 23-jarige coureur had ook nog een bericht op het vizier achtergelaten.

Sergio Perez was ook nog aanwezig. Hij overhandigde samen met zijn teamgenoot de taart voor de ex-coureur.
