Analyse eerste twee vrije trainingen GP Bahrein: Red Bull snelste in kwalificatie, gelijk aan Mercedes in racetrim

Max Verstappen was tijdens alle drie de vrije trainingen van de Grand Prix van Bahrein het snelste. Waar de Nederlander al het snelste was tijdens de wintertesten, ging hij gisteren en vandaag gewoon verder op het Bahrain International Circuit.

Traditiegetrouw publiceerde de officiële Formule 1-site hun analyse wat betreft de pikorde in racesnelheid en kwalificatiesnelheid.

Kwalificatiesnelheid

Volgens de analyse van de Formule 1-website heeft Red Bull een voordeel ten opzichte van meest dichtbije uitdager Mercedes. Één tiende, zoveel staat het team uit Milton Keynes voor het kampioenteam.

Dat wil zeggen dat, volgens de analisten bij de bond, Mercedes nog wat tijd in handen heeft - Verstappen was meerdere malen méér dan een tiende sneller dan een van de twee Mercedessen.

Racesnelheid

Volgens deze zelfde analisten is er slechts één honderdste verschil tussen de twee top teams. Echter, dit keer is het Mercedes die volgens hen sneller was.

Ook publiceerde de website een overzicht welke teams - ten opzichte van Mercedes - waar tijd verliezen (of winnen). In onderstaande diagrammen zien we dat Red Bull tijd wint in de langzame en medium-snelle bochten. In de snelle bochten is het nagenoeg gelijk, maar het geeft wel aan dat Red Bull nog veel tijd inlevert op de rechte stukken.

Bovenstaande data toont dus aan dat er werkelijk geen verschil zit tussen beide teams. Indien deze data garant staat voor hoe het er zondag aan toegaat, dan hebben we een spannende race voor de boeg.

De kwalificatie van de Grand Prix van Bahrein begint om 16:00 Nederlandse tijd. Kan Max Verstappen zijn RB16B op pole position zetten?

Leuk zo'n analyse, alleen zegt dit ook niet heel veel. Pas straks zien we wat iedereen echt kan en hetzelfde kan gezegd worden voor zondag. Ik ben wel echt hoopvol dat we een spannend seizoen gaan krijgen.

Ferrari oogt trouwens ook goed als je kijkt naar deze analyse. Die komen terug dit seizoen.
