Gebrek aan vertrouwen bij Fernando Alonso zorgt voor moeilijk weekend

Fernando Alonso maakte dit jaar na 2 jaar afwezigheid zijn comeback in de F1. De Spanjaard keert terug bij Alpine, het team dat voorheen opereerde onder de naam Renault, het team waar zijn successen in de F1 begonnen. Twee wereldkampioenschappen behaalde de 39-jarige Alonso met dit team, maar van meer succes is hij voorlopig nog ver verwijderd.

De komst van Alonso zorgde voor een enorme hype en vooral een positieve teamsfeer. Nadat Esteban Ocon en Daniel Ricciardo vorig jaar op het podium stonden was de hoop om dit jaar een nieuwe grote stap naar voren te zetten.

De vraag is of dat zal lukken, aangezien Alpine een zeer moeilijk begin kent van het seizoen, zo erkent Alonso tegenover onder andere GPToday.net: "Ik had dit eerlijk gezegd niet verwacht. Het weekend is erg moeilijk van start gegaan. Ik mis vooral het vertrouwen in de achterkant van de wagen. Het remmen van de wagen was in vergelijking met de testsessie van 2 weken geleden ook enorm anders."

"Ik wist niet goed wat ik kon verwachten omdat het de eerste kwalificatie van het jaar is. Ik ben wel blij met de negende positie maar ik had om eerlijk te zijn op veel meer gehoopt. De verandering van de wind en de koele omstandigheden, ik dacht dat het mijn rijstijl ten goede zou komen..."

Tijdens de testdagen ging het nbiet vlotjes maar nu staat ie toch weer op p9 na zoveel tijd zonder f1 wagen te besturen.
Het is op z'n minst netjes te noemen.

Alonso leek het het hele weekend brij lastig te hebben, toch prima gekwalificeerd denk ik. Jammer genoeg nog geen echte meting met Ocon.

  Tijdens de testdagen ging het nbiet vlotjes maar nu staat ie toch weer op p9 na zoveel tijd zonder f1 wagen te besturen.
  Het is op z'n minst netjes te noemen.

Het gaat misschien nog wat onwennig en Ocon had wat pech, maar toen het er echt om ging laat Alonso toch wat van zijn klasse zien vandaag.

Petje af voor Fernando.
Ocon stond een jaar de zijlijn voor hij naast Daniël
instapte. Daarna kwam hij toch op snelheid en aan het einde seizoen was hij vaak bijna net zo snel terwijl Daniël onafgebroken heeft gereden en in vorm is.
Als je dan kijkt hoe Alonso het naast deze Ocon heeft gedaan terwijl Fernando nu juist twee jaar langs de lijn heeft gestaan en Ocon weer in vorm en ritme is... heel knap. Respect. Is hij beter dan Max en Lewis? Nee denk ik niet maar “bijna evengoed” komt toch wel meer in de buurt. Hij is zeker even goed als Daniël op basis van dit eerste vergelijk.

  Zet die 3 in dezelfde wagen en het is de vorm van het weekend die bepaalt wie wint en als het om een heel kampioenschapsjaar gaat is het de constantste die wint. Ik zou er niks op verwedden.
  De hoon was groot vooraf, maar nu al een stuk minder.
  Alonso heeft ook verder niet op z’n gat gezeten

Gebrek aan vertrouwen. Heel het weekend al roemloos geploeter, en dan stuur je dat ding op je oude dag zomaar effe Q3 in. Knap hoor!
Ik ben voorlopig blij dat Alonso er weer effe bij is. Het racen is een ding, maar de karakters zijn toch haast net zo belangrijk
