Bottas niet blij defensieve strategie Mercedes: "Zeer teleurstellend"

Al heel het weekend reed Valtteri Bottas een beetje in niemandsland. Hij was duidelijk langzamer dan zijn teamgenoot, maar toch ook weer wat sneller dan het middenveld. Hij finishte de Grand Prix van Bahrein als derde, een flink stuk achter Lewis Hamilton en Max Verstappen maar een stuk voor het middenveld. Goede punten voor het team, maar Valtteri is duidelijk niet tevreden.

"Het is absoluut teleurstellend", zo klinkt Bottas tegenover Jenson Button. "Uiteraard zijn dit goede punten voor het team, maar vanuit mijn perspectief leek het erop alsof we qua strategie meer defensief reden dan aanvallend - dat vond ik wel enigszins verrassend."

"De langzame pitstop hielp ook niet mee", zo legt Bottas verder uit. Bottas stond tijdens zijn één na laatste pitstop voor ruim 10 seconden stil, dit zorgde ervoor dat hij achter Norris en Leclerc terecht kwam op de vijfde plek. "Dat heeft ervoor gezorgd dat we potentiële kansen vooraan mis zouden hebben gelopen."

"Het tempo was op zich goed", zo vertelt Bottas verder. "We zaten ook in de luxepositie dat we twee auto's vooraan hadden, we konden dus spelen met bandenkeuzes en de strategieën. Echter, vanuit mijn perspectief was er vandaag veel meer te halen dan dat ik vandaag heb laten zien", zo concludeert Valtteri Bottas tegenover Jenson button.

Bottas wist op het einde - dankzij een late stop voor een set zachte banden - ook de snelste raceronde te zetten. Dit zorgt ervoor dat hij een extra WK-punt toegeschreven krijgt.

k vond dat ie wonderbaarlijk goed mee kon. Eigenlijk de hele race qua pace gelijk aan Lewis.

Misschien eens proberen 1. beter te kwalificeren 2. beter te starten en 3. harder rijden. Het is je eigen schuld dat je continu plan B bent. Vind het echt jammer dat Russel niet in die auto zit.

  @Rutger, misschien moet je je inschrijven bij het Sesamstraat forum, daar lopen meer eeftijdsgenootjes van je rond. Op een formule1 forum heb je blijkbaar niets te zoeken want daar snap je geen moer van...
