Alpine belooft 'beste in Enstone geproduceerde auto ooit' voor 2022

Alpine F1 Team zet alles op alles om volgend jaar te profiteren van de ingrijpende reglementswijzigingen in de Formule 1. De Franse renstal is vastberaden om de beste Formule 1-auto die het ooit geproduceerd heeft te maken voor 2022. Voor Alpine is dat niet zo moeilijk, aangezien het team onder die naam volgend jaar pas aan haar tweede seizoen op het hoogste niveau begint.

Achter de naam van Alpine gaat echter een renstal met een rijke geschiedenis schuil, sinds Benetton het hoofdkwartier in 1992 naar Enstone verhuisde. Nadien heette het team nog Renault en Lotus en zijn er grote successen gevierd, zoals wereldtitels met Michael Schumacher en Fernando Alonso. Het is dus best wat dat Alpine-directeur Laurent Rossi daar overheen wil gaan.

"Wat we willen doen, is voortborduren op wat we opgebouwd hebben", begint Rossi. "We weten dat we het einde van de huidige auto min of meer bereikt hebben. We gaan alles uit deze wagen persen wat we eruit kunnen persen en dit gebruiken om onze manier van werken te stroomlijnen. In de tussentijd gaan we zorgen dat we de beste auto ooit gaan produceren onder de nieuwe regels."

Hij vervolgt: "Het team in Enstone heeft door de jaren heen veel gedaantewisselingen ondergaan. We werken nu met een auto waarvan de grenzen zijn bereikt. Het is een goede auto, maar niet de beste, dat is voor iedereen duidelijk. Marcin Budkowski zwaait nu de scepter, samen met Davide Brivio. Zij zullen nu hun stempel op het team gaan drukken en we hebben al enkele bekende engineers vastgelegd. Alle ingrediënten om volgend jaar goed voor de dag te komen zijn aanwezig."

  Benetton... Renault... Dat is inderdaad torenhoog. Zelfs het niveau van Team Lotus (Kimi) is al best uitdagend voor ze. Die periode wonnen ze 2 races en weet ik veel hoeveel podia's

An deze tijdperk en toch al in middels gedateerd, was de 2012 Lotus F1 waarmee Kimi een comeback maakte één van de beste auto’s.

  Klopt. De Lotus van 2012 & 2013 was heel behoorlijk te noemen en was een vaste podiumklant, niet alleen voor Kimi maar zelfs voor Grosjean.

  Dan weet je dat de auto best netjes is.

Ze kunnen wel zeggen dat ze de beste auto ooit in enstone willen bouwen. Maar dat wil niet zeggen dat ie ook beter is dan de rest ;)
