Valterri Bottas moet genoegen nemen met tweede startrij: "Wordt spannend tijdens de race"

Valterri Bottas kon het tempo van Lewis Hamilton en  Max Verstappen niet bijbenen in de kwalificatie. Hij moet genoegen nemen met de derde plaats bij de start van de Grote Prijs van Spanje.  

Valterri Bottas: "Het was krap. Mijn doel was om voor pole te gaan, maar ik had een kleine snap in de binnenkant van bocht tien, dan kun je het wel schudden voor de poleposition."

Het wordt dan ook spannend morgen tussen de Red Bull en de Mercedessen. "Het gaat echt krap worden tussen ons en de Red Bull's, als je de banden hier in goede vorm weet te houden dan kan het spannend worden met de pitstops. Ik ga uiteraard hier niet uit de doeken doen of we voor een één-stopper of twee-stopper gaan", besluit de Finse coureur lachend voor de microfoon van Pedro de la Rosa.

@NSF1; beetje flauw. Ik draai ‘m om: het is duidelijk dat de Mercedes toch echt de beste auto heeft als zelfs een middelmatig coureur als Bottas dit er uit kan halen. Ik begin steeds meer te denken dat wat Verstappen bij RBR aan het doen is te vergelijken is met wat Kevin Schwarz eind jaren 90 ... [Lees verder]

    Hopelijk pakt Leclerc hem morgen bij de start en komt hij daarachter vast te zitten.. Dan is Max in ieder geval 1 Mercedes kwijt is..

      Dat geeft maar weer eens aan dat BOT zijn werk goed doet en er staat om HAM te steunen tijdens de race. Waar staat die tweede RB nu ook alweer?

Ik begin steeds meer te denken dat wat Verstappen bij RBR aan het doen is te vergelijken is met wat Kevin Schwarz eind jaren 90 met Suzuki deed. Die dachten dat ze een WK waardige motor hadden tot Schwantz de helm aan de wilgen hing en bleek dat er niet mee te rijden was door anderen. Perez is geen prutser, maar 0,7 achter. Oeffff. Die heeft een *** avond.

      @NFS1, Fout! Bottas staat achter Verstappen, daar gaat Hamilton morgen ook niks aan hebben.

    Valtteriets te zeggen over de strategie? Jazekers Valtteri, zonder SC of andere gekkigheid ga je (net als iedereen) voor een 2 stopper morgen.

    Als Leclerc morgen een echte Leclerc start heeft kan Bottas eerst een halve race nadenken hoe hij die plek weer terugkrijgt, al is zijn auto 0,5 seconde sneller. Het zal dan wel weer met een pitstop moeten. Hamilton en Verstappen zijn dan al halverwege de koffie........
