Vandaag om 15:00 zal de Grand Prix van Spanje worden verreden op het Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Lewis Hamilton, die gisteren zijn honderdste pole position wist te behalen, zal starten op de rode zachte band, net als Max Verstappen en Valtteri Bottas achter hem.

Pirelli heeft voorspeld, dankzij hoge mate van slijtage en een grote delta tussen de banden-compounds, dat de teams hoogstwaarschijnlijk twee pitstops zullen gaan doen. Maar welke coureurs hebben welke sets banden nog beschikbaar?

Opvallend is dat Max Verstappen slechts één setje medium-banden over heeft om te gebruiken tijdens de race, daar waar beide Mercedessen daar twee van hebben. Echter, Max Verstappen heeft wel als enige van de kansmakers op de overwinning een nieuw setje softs. Pirelli zelf voorspelt dat een combinatie soft-medium-soft de snelste manier is om de Grand Prix uit te rijden, met de combinatie soft-medium-medium als één na snelst.
