Demo-run Grosjean in Mercedes van de baan, test blijft wel staan

Romain Grosjean kan zich nog steeds opmaken om volgende maand in een (oude) Formule 1-auto van Mercedes te kruipen. Even leek het erop dat de verschuivingen op de kalender roet in het eten zouden gooien, maar niets is minder waar. Grosjean test op 29 juni met een Mercedes W10 uit 2019 op het circuit van Paul Ricard.

Dit ondanks het feit dat de Grand Prix van Frankrijk een week naar voren is gehaald, van 27 juni naar 20 juni. Dat is gedaan om ruimte te maken op het schema voor een double-header in Oostenrijk, op 27 juni en 4 juli. Het is de reactie van de Formule 1 op het afhaken van Turkije, dat op 13 juni een Grand Prix zou organiseren in plaats van Canada.

Mercedes heeft bevestigd dat de geplande test met Grosjean gewoon door zal gaan op 29 juni. De geplande demonstratierondjes in het voorprogramma van de Franse Grand Prix zijn wel van de baan. Het raceweekend op Paul Ricard valt nu samen met een raceweekend in de IndyCar Series, waardoor Grosjean verplichtingen in Amerika heeft.
