Sergio Perez reageert op poging tot overval: "De politie heeft ze te pakken"

Sergio Perez zegt dat een bodyguard die is neergeschoten tijdens een poging tot een overval op zijn ouderlijk huis in Mexico in goede staat verkeert. Enkele minuten voor de kwalificatie voor de Grand Prix van Monaco verschenen er berichten over het incident in de wijk Ladrón de Guevara in de gemeente Guadalajara, de thuisstad van de Red Bull Racing-coureur.

Lokale media meldden dat een lid van het beveiligingspersoneel van de familie gewond was geraakt bij een schietpartij.

Nadat hij zich als negende had gekwalificeerd voor het Red Bull-team, zei Perez tegen RaceFans: “Ze probeerden de auto van mijn beveiliging te stelen. Ze hebben laatste één van mijn bewakers neergeschoten, maar ze probeerden in feite de auto te stelen en verder was er niets aan de hand. Hij is in goede staat en de politie heeft de overvallers gepakt."

Perez, van wie wordt aangenomen dat hij een regelmatige bezoeker van zijn geboorteland Mexico is wanneer de Formule 1-verplichtingen het toelaten, werd naar verluidt pas na de kwalificatie op de hoogte gebracht van het incident.

Reis naar Mexico

Vorig seizoen reisde hij midden in de zomer tussen de Hongaarse en de Britse Grands Prix terug naar Mexico om zijn moeder te zien, die op dat moment onwel was.

Helaas kreeg Perez corona bij zijn terugkeer van dat bezoek en moest hij beide races op Silverstone missen terwijl hij herstelde.

  Hmmm... Ik ben niet zo goed in Spans. Versta wel halve zinnen omdat veel Sapnse woorden vaak raakpunten hebben met Engelse.
  
  Hier had ik bij Ladron op 'de drone' gegokt. Hahaha. Niet in dit gevaloverigens. De wijk is vast niet gebouwd nadat de drone zijn intrede in de wereld deed.
