Nissany test opnieuw voor Williams tijdens eerste vrije training in Frankrijk

Roy Nissany komt dit jaar voor de tweede keer in actie voor het team van Williams. Dit gebeurt tijdens de eerste vrije training van de Grand Prix van Frankrijk. De Formule 2-coureur en tevens officiele testrijder van het team neemt op het circuit van Paul Ricard tijdelijk het stuurtje over van George Russell.

Williams verwelkomt Nissay opnieuw en Dave Robson, verantwoordelijk voor de prestaties van de FW43B, legt uit wat Nissany gaat doen. ''Zoals altijd, neemt Roy een actieve rol in ons ontwikkelingsprogramma en gaat de nieuwe onderdelen verder uittesten die zijn gebruikt in Azerbeidjan.''

Volgens Robson gaat Nissany's expertise en kunde een belangrijke rol spelen in de verdere ontwikkeling van de Williams-bolide. ''Zijn ervaring op deze baan en zijn gevoel voor de wagen gaan ons helpen om de nieuwe componenten te begrijpen.'' Niet alleen Nissany, maar ook zijn collega Nicolas Latifi gaat hiermee aan de slag. ''Nicolas gaat een soortgelijk programma doen in VT1, met het testen van onderdelen in een racesimulatie.''

George Russell zit het eerste uur aan de kant, maar is 's middags weer van de partij. ''George komt in de tweede vrije training terug in de auto en gaat zich voorbereiden op de race.''

Nissany kan niet wachten

Nissany krijgt opnieuw in een officieel Grand Prix-weekend een Formule 1-wagen ter beschikking en kijkt er erg uit.

''Ik kan niet wachten om achter het stuur te gaan zitten, het is verslavend'', zegt de F2-coureur vol enthousiasme over het rijden in een F1-bolide.

Hij vat het samen: ''Circuit Paul Ricard is een speciale baan voor mij, ik houd van de lay-out en heb goede herinneringen daar. De laatste sector wordt een uitdaging en ik kan niet wachten om dat te ervaren in de FW43B.''

De eerste maal dat Nissay voor de Britse renstal uitkwam in een officiele sessie, was tijdens VT1 in Spanje.
