Turkse Grand Prix toch weer terug op kalender van de Formule 1 in 2021

De Turkse Grand Prix is terug op de F1-kalender. Dat maakt de Formule 1 zojuist bekend via Twitter.

In een persverklaring laat Stefano Domenicali weten dat hij verguld is met deze ingelaste race voor later dit jaar, nu de kalender toch nog door corona in de war werd geschopt. De race keert terug op de 2021 kalender en is gepland tussen 1 en 3 oktober.

De race vindt plaats op Intercity Istanbul Park voor de Turkse Grand Prix, tere vervanging van de Grand Prix van Singapore die onlangs werd afgeblazen.

Eerder dit seizoen werd de Turkse Grand Prix van de kalender verwijderd vanwege internationale reisbeperkingen, maar nu zijn er blijkbaar weer meer zaken mogelijk nu de race op een later tijdstip terug keert op de kalender.

Volgens een verklaring van heeft de Formule 1 er ny het volste vertrouwen in om af te reizen naar Istanbul.

Stefano Domenicali is de President en dus de hoogste baas van Formule 1. Hij is verguld met de F1 race die zal worden gereden in Turkije. Domenicali zegt in een verklaring:

“We zijn verheugd om terug te komen naar Turkije op het circuit van Intercity Istanbul Park. We hopen weer een fantastische race te zien op een van de beste circuits ter wereld. We willen het Intercity Istanbul Park management en de heer Vural Ak bedanken voor zijn persoonlijke inspanningen om dit evenement mogelijk te maken."

Domenicali gaat verder: "We hebben laten zien dat we ons kunnen blijven aanpassen en er is grote belangstelling voor onze sport en de hoop van veel locaties op een Grand Prix. We hebben sinds het begin van het jaar hele goede gesprekken met alle andere promotors en blijven ook in deze periode nauw met hen samenwerken.”
