Nieuwe ontwerp F1-auto's is lang niet volgens iedereen zo 'futuristisch'

Terwijl de Formule 1 het nieuwe concept voor de auto's voor 2022 presenteerde met kreten als "hypermodern" en "futuristisch", doet het nieuwe ontwerp Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner juist denken aan IndyCar-bolides uit de jaren negentig.

Donderdag presenteerde de Formule 1 het nieuwe ontwerp in een model-auto waar de coureurs het doek vanaf mochten trekken. In flitsende videopresentaties werd de jongste generatie Formule 1-bolide aan de wereld getoond.

Radicaal anders

Vanaf volgend jaar moeten de teams hun auto's bouwen waarbij de bolides aan radicaal andere reglementen moeten voldoen. Het huidige boekwerk aan technische voorschriften gaat in de prullenmand en het nieuwe ontwerp moet vooral zorgen dat het inhalen wordt bevorderd, terwijl de bolides veiliger en efficiënter worden. Het model dat werd gepresenteerd roept wisselende reacties op.

Christian Horner is er niet negatief over. Hoewel sommigen de auto futuristisch vinden ogen, gaan de gedachten van Christian Horner vooral jaren terug in het verleden van de autosport.

"Retro"

"Ze zien er een beetje retro uit. Het doet mij denken aan een soort Indycar uit de jaren '90. Ik vind de auto er best cool uitzien, maar het is een beetje retro.”

Veel teams geven aan dat de regels weinig ruimte laten voor eigen interpretatie, en dus vrezen sommigen dat de verschillende auto's van de verschillende teams in 2022 nogal op elkaar zullen gaan lijken.

"Weinig variatie mogelijk"

"Ik denk dat je heel klein beetje variatie zal krijgen op het thema", voorziet Horner.

“De reglementen zijn nu zo strak dat de uiterlijke verschillen minimaal zullen zijn. De grootste verschillen zullen ongetwijfeld vooral onder de huid van de auto zitten. Het is wel jammer dat we een route volgen met zo'n beperkte vrijheid, waardoor de kleurstelling vooral de grootste onderscheidende factor zal worden qua verschillen tussen de auto's."

Achterkant vindt ik wel te pruimen, voorvleugel is ontzettend lelijk. In het algemeen is dat ding weer veel te lang,te breed en vooral veel te zwaar.

  De breedte is niks mis mee. De lengte komt door de hybride systemen en het feit dat bijtanken verboden is. En de zwaarte is daaraan weer direct te relateren.
  
  Dus conclusie; terug naar V10 motoren en bijtanken tijdens pitstops.

Ik vraag me hardop af waarom er zoveel regels nodig zijn met een budgetplafond.
Ik heb het almeer gezegd, ga lekker een andere klasse kijken wanneer je alles hetzelfde wilt.

Regels voor veiligheid, milieu en afmetingen qua lengte, breedte en hoogte begrijp ik, maar laat de rest vrij. Laat teams zelf kiezen of ze met een v12 of v6 willen rijden, welke bandenleverancier met welk formaat banden etc. Etc.
Techniek en creativiteit moet beliind worden.

Nu is alles gereguleerd. Vind ik persoonlijk jammer.

  Ja klinkt inderdaad heel leuk wat je hier zegt. Maar het eindresultaat zal zijn,dat de verschillen onderling te groot worden en de races heel saai worden.

  Daarom ben ik blij dat Bottas altijd stevig in zijn bolide zit. Is wel de laatste coureur die eruit zal donderen.
  
  De enige die het uiteindelijk toch gaat lukken is natuurlijk Toto Wolff...

Ik vind het er ook niet futuristisch uitzien, maar zeker ook niet lelijk..... Ik vind 'm wel wat hebben en we weten pas over een half jaar ongeveer wat de constructeurs er echt van gemaakt hebben.... Deze mock-up kunnen we nog niet echt veel mee....

De neus vind ik wat groot, niet de voorvleugel maar de neus zelf. Verder vind ik het wel een mooi ontwerp en ik ben het eens met Horner, het ontwerp voelt heel erg retro aan. Maar aan het einde van de dag interesseert het me weinig, al rijdt men rond met de theepot of de fan car zolang ik maar op het puntje van mijn stoel zit.
