Wintertests in 2022 verdubbeld

De wintertests in 2022 worden verdubbeld van drie tot zes dagen.

Afgelopen winter konden de teams slechts drie dagen testen in Bahrein voorafgaande aan het huidige seizoen, maar vanaf 2022 hebben de teams te maken met radicaal andere reglementen. En dus heeft de Formule 1 nu besloten om de wintertest flink uit te breiden tot twee testweken van elk drie dagen.

Dat meldt Auto Motor und Sport. Volgens het Duitse medium staan er nu voorlopig twee driedaagse tests gepland: één in Barcelona en een andere in Bahrein voor begin volgend jaar.

Naar verluidt zal de eerste test eind februari zijn, voor een pauze van twee weken. Daarna trekt het Formule 1-circus door naar Bahrein voor een tweede test waarna daar vervolgens het seizoen van start gaat met de Grand Prix van Bahrein.

Dezelfde publicatie maakt er melding van dat de Formule 1 dan twee weken later de tweede Grand Prix in het Midden-Oosten te houden met de Grand Prix van Saoedi-Arabië.

Ook is al bekend dat de Oostenrijkse GP op 10 juli 2022 plaatsvindt, tickets daarvoor zijn al te koop.

F1-baas Stefano Domenicali zegt bovendien dat de kalender van 2022 het houdt bij de toch al forse aantal van 23 races. Sommigen vreesden dat de kalender nog verder uitgebreid zou kunnen worden naar 25 Grands Prix in 2022, maar Domenicali lijkt dat nu te ontkennen.

"Ik denk dat 23 races een stabiel aantal is, hoewel er een bepaling in de Concorde-overeenkomst staat voor meer races dan dat", vertelde hij aan GQ.

"Ik zie wel dat er minder Grands Prix in Europa zijn en, meer races n de VS, het Midden-Oosten en Azië."

  Veel te snel geschreven. Als je per artikel betaald krijgt dan snap ik het, maar als het per uur is dan zou ik toch meer aandacht erin steken wat ik kopieer.
  
  De wens is om een besloten Shakedown van 3 dagen uit te voeren in Barcelona zonder pers... daarna zouden er nog twee testweken volgen in Bahrein. Ook hoopt F1 een gezamelijke launche uit te kunnen voeren zodat teams het niet langer houden bij een paar studiofotos.

Eigenlijk wordt de test dus min of meer hersteld zoals voor dit jaar. Dit jaar waren ze zeer kort omdat de wagens niet volledig nieuw waren.
