Suzuka stelt kaartverkoop uit, Spa-Francorchamps verwacht nog altijd publiek

De vrees voor het doorgaan van de Japanse GP van oktober lijkt gegrond. Na weken van speculatie geeft F1-baas Stefano Domenicali toe: "Ik zal niet verhullen dat de situatie in Japan wordt geobserveerd."

Hij verwijst naar de aanhoudende covidcrisis en de problemen die dat veroorzaakt bij het rond krijgen van de F1-kalender in 2021. Japan is momenteel gastheer van de Olympische Spelen te midden van ernstige zorgen over de pandemie en strenge sociale beperkingen in het land van de rijzende zon.

Mobilityland is organisator van de Japanse GP en geeft nu toe dat de kaartverkoop voor het F1-evenement voorlopig is stilgelegd. De baan is in eigendom van Honda en de Grand Prix zou er dit jaar plaatsvinden van 8-10 oktober.

"Wat betreft de voorverkoop en de algemene verkoop voor eind juli, stellen we het uit op basis van de huidige sociale situatie totdat we meer betrouwbare informatie hebben", zo citeren Japanse media een woordvoerder.

Positieve geluiden rondom GP op Spa-Francorchamps

Er is ook positiever nieuws uit Spa-Francorchamps, waar de Belgische GP-organisatoren zeggen "vrij positief" te zijn over het verwelkomen van toeschouwers voor de race van eind augustus.

Noodweer ramp in regio rond Spa

De Grand Prix van Spa-Francorchamps staat gepland voor eind augustus. De regio werd de laatste weken meermaals getroffen door noodweer en zware regenbuien. In de regio voltrok zich een ramp en het circuit en toegangswegen raakten beschadigd. Toch ziet het er dus naar uit dat er 'gewoon' geracet kan worden door Lewis Hamilton en Max Verstappen op de glooiende baan door de Ardennen. Afgelopen week kwamen er weer positieve berichten vanuit België.

"We kunnen ons evenement organiseren met stands en algemene toelating", zegt circuitdirecteur Stijn de Boever.

Eerder schreef GPtoday al berichten die duidelijk maken dat toeschouwers moeten worden ingeënt of een recente covid-test hebben gehad.

"In totaal mogen wij 75.000 toeschouwers per dag toelaten", zo citeert Grand Prix Radio de Boever nu.

GPToday meldde begin juni dat er op Spa-Francorchamps 75.000 fans per dag mogen worden toegelaten.

Stands en algemene toelating? Nou heb ik een weekendkaart voor een bronzen plek. Weet iemand wellicht hoe het hiermee zit en wat de verwachtingen zijn?

  Er werd alweer geracet op Spa intussen, lijkt me dat dat geen spelbreker gaat zijn. Covidregels rondom testing bij events zijn wel verstrengd, waardoor onder meer Pukkelpop afgelast is, weet niet in hoeverre Spa hier last van gaat hebben, maar denk dat het wel in orde komt.
