Helmut Marko: "Red Bull en AlphaTauri volgend seizoen mogelijk met dezelfde coureurs"

Helmut Marko geeft een sterke hint dat Red Bull in 2022 met dezelfde coureurs zal aantreden als dit seizoen. Ook zou het rijderskoppel bij AlphaTauri mogelijk onveranderd blijven in 2022. "We zullen dit na de zomervakantie bekendmaken", vertelde hij aan Speed Week.

De 78-jarige Red Bull-adviseur wijst suggesties van de hand dat hij Red Bull's Sergio Perez volgend jaar zou willen vervangen door Pierre Gasly. "Hij rijdt absoluut zijn sterkste seizoen", zei Marko over Gasly, "maar hij is extreem belangrijk als onze teamleider voor Alpha Tauri. Het team is een topteam op het middenveld geworden. We hebben een optioneel contract voor de diensten van Gasly tot 2023, dat we zullen gebruiken. Alle andere geruchten zijn onzin."

"Onnodige fouten"

De Japanse 'rookie' Yuki Tsunoda lijkt ook te blijven zitten waar hij zit. "Hij is jong, met veel Japanse mentaliteit, maar hij maakt fouten als ze helemaal niet nodig zijn", vertelt Marko."Hij moet beseffen dat zijn hoofd er niet alleen is om een helm op te zetten, maar ook om na te denken. Maar het komt wel goed; hij heeft nog tijd."

Ten slotte zei Marko dat hij er nog steeds vertrouwen in heeft dat Max Verstappen de titel van 2021 kan winnen, maar hij verwacht dat de zware strijd met Mercedes zal voortduren.

"We zijn sterk op alle circuits", zei hij, "maar met Hamilton is er een buitengewoon sterke tegenstander. En met Mercedes heeft hij een team dat voor niets lijkt te stoppen."

Toch enigszins jammer dat Yuki The Rookie de verwachtingen niet heeft kunnen waarmaken. Werd bestempeld als een groter talent dan Mick. Het was ook eigenlijk vrij mager wat Mick liet zien in de F2 suggereerde men. Nu blijkt echter dat de stap naar de F1 echt een grote is en een waar velen zich stuk op bijten. Hopen dat volgend jaar met iedereen vanaf een nulpunt we gaan zien wat hij en de andere rookies nu daadwerkelijk in hun mars hebben.

Ik wil Max en Lewis bij Ferrari. Allebei vanaf nul beginnen. En dan kijken wat er gaat gebeuren. ;)

Dan zetten we Leclerc in Red Bull met Alonso. Mercedes: Russell en Ericsson, zal Larry P leuk vinden.

  Vermoed dat Max naar de pits rijdt en overstapt in zijn RB en dat Lewis hetzelfde doet bij Mercedes.
  
  Wel mooi dat Ferrari weer de weg omhoog heeft gevonden.
