De ingewikkelde bestuursstructuur van Alpine

De meeste Formule 1-teams hebben een teambaas en soms loopt er her en der ook nog een CEO rond. Het is een overzichtelijk geheel en te begrijpen voor het grote publiek. Maar natuurlijk zijn er ook teams die het anders aanpakken, zoals Alpine.

Bij de Franse ploeg veranderde er veel afgelopen winter. Ten eerste werd de naam 'Renault' gedumpt en kwam de naam 'Alpine' daarvoor in de plaats. Ook op organisatorisch gebied veranderde er veel. Teambaas Cyril Abiteboul vertrok en in zijn plaats kwamen er drie nieuwe hoge heren. En dat is opvallend er verwarrend want wie is nou wie en wie doet wat?

De takenverdeling

De eerste grote jongen bij Alpine is Laurent Rossi, de CEO. Davide Brivio maakte vanuit de MotoGP de overstap naar de F1-paddock en hij is de racing director. De derde belangrijke naam is die van Marcin Budkowski, de executive director. Onder deze drie heb je dan ook nog Alan Permane, de sporting director, en hoofd strategie Mathieu Dubios. En helemaal bovenaan de ladder is er dan ook nog Luca de Meo, de CEO van Renault.

Het klinkt allemaal ingewikkeld en misschien zelfs een beetje overdreven. In gesprek met de BBC laat Rossi (CEO) weten waarom ze zo werken: "Eerst hadden we één teambaas wiens rol het was om het circuit en de fabriek te overzien. De realiteit is dat het zwaar voor hem was om dat allebei te doen. Het is moeilijk te doen voor iedereen tegenwoordig."

Het werkt vooralsnog

Je kan het zien als een soort nieuwe manier van het managen van een Formule 1-team maar vooralsnog is er niks bekend over grote ongeregeldheden bij de drie heren van Alpine. Volgens Rossi loopt het vooralsnog op rolletjes: "De verantwoordelijkheden zijn helder. Natuurlijk wanneer je drie mensen hebt moet je de taken bij sommige problemen verdelen. Maar vooralsnog werkt het erg goed." De toekomst zal leren of Alpine grote successen zal boeken met deze structuur. Esteban Ocon heeft ze in Hongarije in ieder geval de eerste overwinning bezorgd.

Uiteindelijk is het Brivio die vaak voor de camera staat en wat mij betreft dus de teambaas is. De rest is maar bijzaak, want dat is allemaal achter de bühne.
