Ricciardo heeft zin in Zandvoort: 'Bochten die je nergens anders ziet'

Dit weekend zullen de tribunes in Zandvoort vol zitten met fans in het oranje. Natuurlijk vanwege thuisfavoriet Max Verstappen. Maar op de grid staan ook de papaja kleurige McLarens en ook dat team is redelijk populair in Nederland.

Daniel Ricciardo hoopt zijn goede weekend in Spa een vervolg te geven in de Nederlandse duinen. De goedlachse McLaren-coureur blikt op de officiële Formule 1-site vooruit op het weekend: "Ik ben zeker enthousiast. Ik heb hier in 2009 voor het laatst gereden en ik herinner me niet zoveel meer van het circuit. Natuurlijk hebben we wat voorbereidingen betroffen zodat we een beetje bekend zijn met de baan. Maar ik denk dat in de Formule 1 een nieuw circuit altijd opwindend is, nieuwe technieken leren en trucjes uitproberen. Uitvogelen wat de beste lijn is, welke kerb je moet nemen, het is leuk."

Net als veel van zijn collega's was de Australiër donderdagochtend te vinden op de baan voor een trackwalk. Ricciardo heeft zich daar al kostelijk vermaakt: "De trackwalk vanochtend was cool, er zijn hele verschillende bochten die je niet ziet op andere plekken in de wereld en de banking enzovoorts zijn erg cool, heel erg high speed." En zo kijken dus niet alleen de fans maar ook zeker de coureurs heel erg uit naar dit weekend.
