Het was op Zandvoort gelijk duidelijk: het was druk. Niet alleen op de tribunes maar zeker ook op de baan. Er was veel verkeer en coureurs moesten veelvuldig hun spiegels in de gaten houden.

Het lijkt erop dat het verkeer ook in de kwalificatie een grote rol gaat spelen. Op de gebruikelijke teambazen persconferentie op vrijdag sprak Red Bull-teambaas zijn zorgen hierover uit: "Dat gaat een uitdaging worden."

Max Verstappen was prominent aanwezig op de vrijdag. Hij rijdt voor het eerst in zijn vaderland en dat kan indruk maken. Maar niet voor de altijd kalme Verstappen. Op de persconferentie in Zandvoort liet Horner zich hierover uit. "Hij benadert dit weekend als elk ander weekend." Het was wel opvallend dat de Limburger vrijdag een trackwalk deed, normaliter doet de Red Bull-coureur dat bijna nooit.
